If they made a sequel to Zak and Wiki, do you think that it would sell better then the first, and would you be one of the people to buy it?

I say "Meh" to the whole thing. The first game was fun, but not anything that made me want a sequel. I might buy it if it was really good.

sure but it won't happen. I'm hoping for the Conduit 2 (looks like to happen) and MadWorld 2 (unlikely and that's a real shame).

So ends a saga older than time itself.

Zack and Wiki is one of the greatest games on the Wii, so of course I'd love to see a sequal
I fell in love with the original, it's just a shame it sold so poorly...

I actually just rented it from my (awesome) library. I could see myself getting a sequel, especially if they packed in the original or made some type of combo pack. Then again, I'd buy anything as a combo pack.

Exactly.

I'd love a sequel, but I'd prefer it on the DS.

Oh, yes please!

It's one of my favourite Wii games. Performing the motion-controlled actions was occasionally frustrating, but everything else was so lovely I totally forgive those few moments. (I can only remember two specific bits that had me cursing, to be honest: the fishing, early on in the game; and the final battle, in space.)

I recently played Sam & Max Season One, and as much as I enjoyed that game's puzzles and story, the difference in production values between it and Zack & Wiki was so vast it's not funny. Ugly, ugly graphics...a broken soundtrack, with every other sentence of dialogue being cut off a few syllables before the end...a stupidly laggy UI. I'm glad I picked up Sam & Max—it has moments of surreal genius that had me laughing out loud in delight—but the overall quality of Zack & Wiki has really spoiled me for this kind of game. I can't ever imagine going back and replaying Sam & Max; in contrast, moving around in the world Capcom created for Barbaros' Treasure is a pleasure, and I sometimes return to the game just to experience that world again for half an hour.

Who knows? If the PS3 Move is successful, Capcom might decide that a multi-platform sequel would be financially viable. Personally, I'd love to see some WiiWare/PSN Zack & Wiki goodness. Imagine something like the pirate's hideout from Barbaros' Treasure as a kind of a hub or shop, and bi-weekly DLC releases appearing on your treasure map for, say, 500 points a pop? In my fantasy, the DLC wouldn't be "episodic", i.e. it wouldn't form a linear story, but would rather be more like Rock Band DLC, and you'd just download the levels you fancied from an ever-growing library of content, as you pleased. What do you think?

(Oh, and Motion Plus support would be a must for any sequel, of course!)

What was your favourite level from Barbaros' Treasure? I think mine was the early one with the little critters dancing round the totem pole and the bonfire...

I dunno I haven't played the original yet (despite owning it for a few months)

Looks to be fun though.

How about a new and unique game instead of a sequel?

raises hand a Zack & Wiki sequel would be awesome.
They already have the engine, the character models and the voices, so they could probably make one with a small team to keep costs down.

Haven't played the first one yet despite I own it for a long time. But to answer the question: No, I don't want a sequel. I'm not a fan fan of all these sequels. I prefer independent and original games

I'd love a sequel; if not a direct continuation of the story, there'd be room for a spiritual sequel that used the same engine. However, the way Capcom usually work, we'd have had about three or four sequels by now if we were going to get any so there probably won't be one. It's all about the sales and they weren't even close to good enough.

Still, it'd have been nice if they could have taken the opportunity to fix the obviously broken bits in the first game. I never managed to complete any of the musical challenges, as I just couldn't get the controls to register at all, and the way some of the other motion controls worked was decidedly counter-intuitive; enough random waggling will get you through, but it's not exactly graceful. Also, the way that nearly any mistake tended to kill you off, and those that didn't often left you having to suicide to get back a one-off item, doesn't exactly smack of great game design.

Mostly though, I just get a kick out of confusing people between it and the film Zack & Miri Make A Porno.

The first one was a great game and a sequel would be nice. I know it didn't sell well but neither did okami and they're making a sequel for that. If they do make a zack and wiki sequel it should use the motioh plus.

I still need to finish the first one! It's a great game, but it doesn't scratch that gaming itch the way some other games do. It's the first point-and-click adventure I ever spent money on, so I guess I'm not a huge fan of the genre. On the other hand, the whole family tends to gather around when I do play it and I really love the production values and humor. It's an "every once in a while" game for me.

Actually they do, and there is a very strong partnership between Nintendo and Capcom. I wish the same one existed with other companies. Sure they didn't bring Resident Evil 5 (because they made two exclusive (on-rails) RE sequels for the Wii) or Street Fighter IV... but bringing over Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Monster Hunter Tri, two franchises (Vs and Monster Hunter) that have never been on Nintendo's consoles and always been on Playstations, to exclusive Nintendo console, is the most remarkable thing ever..and I love them for it.

So ends a saga older than time itself.

I'd really want a sequel, but it would sell pretty poorly, mainly due to the poor marketing aproach. From what I've heard, they really do love the character Zack, but they will want to make money from it.
If they could find a way to get Zack and Wiki more popular as characters from a different game, like Smash Bros., there is the possibility that people would want to find out more about them, sort of like the Fire Emblem games. I don't think we'll be seeing more Zack and Wiki titles in the near future, though.

Oh, and Capcom doesn't hate the Wii in any way, shape, or form. From what I see, they're the best 3rd party developer for the system, and they have a great partnership with Nintendo.

I would love to see a sequel, but am not holding my breath. Even though I loved the first game, it doesn't seem like a title that would ever be more than niche success (at best!) so sequels probably wouldn't be profitable enough.

@wizball-23:
Yeah, Sam & Max was an odd mix of wonderful point-and-click adventure with terrible technical issues. The part I liked most was how it was a more traditional adventure instead of the isolated puzzles you get with Zack & Wiki. I just wish that TellTale cared enough to create a more efficient Wii engine because I really like their work. Oh well... still looking to pick up the second season of Sam & Max since that just released on Wii for only $20.

I'd love a sequel to Zach & Wiki, the first one was great, but it'll most likely never happen.

Capcom Europe, director of communications Chris Kramer;
"In 2010, you won't see as many Wii games from Capcom, but the ones we release will be much larger, event-size games."

Any company that says they will release less games for Wii, in my opinion means that they are caring less and less about it. He also says things like that the Wii is harder to make money on. so yes your right, Monster hunter and vs Capcom, large event size game, sure, but things like Zack, I very much doubt they'll go for another one.
