I've downloaded two Neo Geo games from the VC, Metal Slug 2 and Samurai Showdown 2. Metal Slug 2 suffers greatly from slowdown and Samurai Showdown 2 also has a lot of slowdown and also it flickers a lot and is choppy. Also I wanted to downlaod Ironclad but read that the visuals are to dark and not as vibrant as they should be.
Does anyone know what's going on? Were the games originally like this or are they bad ports? If Metal Gear SLug 2 suffered from slowdown running on a console in 1996, why does it still suffer from slowdown on a console made in 2006? I really down't understand it.
If you downloaded them on a PAL console, that could be the reason. I have Samurai Shodown II and I don't see any bad slowdown. Perhaps I'm mistaking bad slowdown for dramatic slowdown but there's nothing game breaking.
It might not be gamebreaking exactly, but I'm sure my version on Samurai Showdown 2 does not look or run as well as the the version this guy is playing:
The PAL conversions of those games aren't brilliant. Part of the reason all my VC content (bar the C64 and TG-16 pinball games) are on my Japanese Wii.
Neo Geo Hardware did slow down. Metal slug 2 had the worst ever. If your a uk user just get Samurai Showdown 2 on 360 and Metal Slug 3 as well as they are full speed games slown down by 17 percent on WII by D3. Its not in retro interests to pay money for these like what Shaun is doing.
