If they don't want to change the original game, they could make it to where they trick the Wii systems into thinking the game is being played on local multiplayer. They do that with some emulators now. Then everyone wins. The game isn't changed and we get to play our games online.
Yea kart 64 just to do some battles online would be enough for me... mario party original i dont mind a few blisters. Contra Hard Corps "Sega" , Not gonna happen but Killer Instinct Gold "64"... Any beat'em ups "Final Fight , Streets of Rage , Double Dragon ll (really not gonna happen lol) a bunch more but we already know the outcome
