Topic: What the hell now my Wii fan isn't turning.

I just had it sent back after being fixed and now the fan wont turn. My Wii kept shutting off on it's own because of overheating.

Blarg, get it fixed immediately, or you'll start getting artifacting.

And that's not cool

I don't know what to say... except send it back telling them they didn't fix it.

If you send it in for repairs, make sure to change where you put it once u get it back. No one wants a hot Wii.

I called them up and they say the fan isn't supposed to come on until the Wii starts getting hot. It doesn't run constantly.

They're correct. The Wii doesn't run that hot. If your paranoid don't keep it on standby and don't leave discs in it. You can also get one of those USB fan things, but I think that's unnecessary.

It's still shutting off automatically -- which isn't supposed to happen.

But according to Link79's first post above, the Wii is shutting itself off. That is a clear indication of a problem.

Link79, does the fan ever run? If not, I bet they left the fan unplugged when they took it apart to repair the drive.

My console's fan is always on when the LED is green. But then I keep standby on so the Wii is good and toasty all the time. So as soon as I turn on the power, on comes the fan. Never tried turning standby off (red LED), letting the Wii cool off, and then checking to see if the fan comes on immediately when I turn the power on.

That really does suck.

Has anyone ever taken their Wii console apart? Is it easy to see where the fan plugs into the circuit board? I'm too much of a coward to take mine apart since it's working fine.

Call Nintendo, and show them they screw up!
