Topic: What is the opinion on Tournament of Legends/Gladiator A.D.?

I personally think that the new art direction is a step in the right direction. As I read in an interview with High Voltage, the original, 300-esque, artstyle would have been overly restrictive and have limited appeal. Hopefully, High Voltage will have learned from what went wrong with The Conduit and carry on with what went right (ie. the customizable controls) in Tournament of Legends. I have also heard that High Voltage are hoping for a T rating rather than an M rating, which could hopefully broaden its appeal. But should it have kept its original style?

Regarding the lack WiiMotion+ support, I can totally understand. The accessory doesn't seem to do any wonders for the nunchuck, and considering the fact that both hands are equally as important, it wouldn't make much sense to have 1:1 support for the wiimote but not the nunchuck; it would severely affect the balance of the game to the point of frustration.

I also hope that it isn't overhyped to the point of nausea like The Conduit, and that it isn't disregarded completely because of the Conduit. To be honest, I was just expecting a pure FPS with The Conduit and decent online play, and that's what I got. If people didn't expect too much of the Conduit, then it may have even sold more. I also don't like how some people say that High Voltage are the worst developers ever, there are far worse developers for the Wii, unfortunately.

One thing I think they have improved is the addition of one-on-one local multiplayer. One of the complaints about The Conduit was that the multiplayer was exclusively online and I agree, because the controls were too good not to have offline as well, in my opinion. But will the multiplayer work? Should it be online as well? Should it be online instead of offline? Should multiplayer have been scrapped completely in order to make a better single player? What does everyone think?

So, what does everyone think about Tournament of Legends?

I don't buy that. The nunchuk's motion control is not bad. See for example SW: The Force Unleashed. So you can use a sword with one hand and a shield with the other. That's pretty cool. And if they wanted two motion pluses, why not do it? You can use two Wii remotes. I'm hoping SW: Forced Unleashed 2 will use two wii remotes. Of course it's expensive - two wii remotes, two wii motion pluses, but the games on the wii are cheaper, and if it's a good enough game, and with proper bundles... why not. Most people I think have two, or at least two.

They could also have offered special stages where motion plus would have been used, and other stages where it wouldn't. Sounds to me it was just an excuse. Not that I think motion plus is that important, but their excuse sounds bad.

Also, if it's about duelling there has to be online. Why wouldn't people play Brawl or TvC instead.

It'll be average without online play.

What I was trying to say was that it would seem odd for the wiimote to more precise than the nunchuck, when it is possible that a character has one weapon in each hand. Although I'm not really sure how it would work. I wouldn't mind the lack of WiiMotion+ as long as the controls work.

I love the new direction of the game, especially if it gets a Teen rating, but they have terrible timing. I think this will turn into an inferior, much more expensive version of "Rage of the Gladiator." I much prefer Wii MotionPlus over being able to wield two weapons at once.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I understand what you're saying Lugas. It's a valid point. But think about it - isn't it just an excuse really? Let's say that's true - why not allow that as an option, a control scheme? Most motion+ games are optional at the moment. So if someone doesn't mind, let him have the accuracy for only one hand. And if they're really innovative, let them use TWO motion+ one in each hand, instead of a nuncuk. It just seems they chose the worst and easiest option - to exclude something they're promised. There are hardly any M+ games available, and they can't just back off from this M+ anticipation and expect that it's ok. It's really really bad. Instead of having another action game with M+ we'll still only have Tiger Woods, Sports Resort , Wiware games and thankfully Red Steel 2. They screwed it up with the Grinder and now this and offer nothing.
