I liked it but unlike link to the past, once I finished I never wanted toi play it again. It was fun while it lasted but it doesn't has any replay value. Also the first 30 minutes were kinda boring.
@King Elemento I thought the spinner was the stupidest item of all, and it really didn't fit in. Seriously, why? Link's carrying around a giant gear/spinning top...wtf? The dominion rod was pretty cool, but it was pretty worthless. It would have been nice to see it used more. It would be really cool if it could drain MP and you can mind-control the enemy to fight for you. I can agree with the claim that TP is to Ocarina as Galaxy is to SM64. That's as good a comparison as any, especially because I liked Ocarina and SM64 both A LOT better than their spiritual sequels, though the sequels were still really good.
I might be the only person IN THE WORLD that thinks this, but TP is my favorite Zelda. Definently not story-wise, but gameplay wise.

Probably one of the worst Zelda games It was extremely dull (could it GET any more brown!?) and boring. I've been stuck in the desert for a year now, and I can never bring myself to play it again. It always feels like a chore to play. I can't believe that it got perfect scores from nearly every major gaming publication in existence.

You are liking Ocarina and SM64 more than the Wii versions for probably the same reasons why I think the other way. I never owned a N64 so I played the Wii through versions first. Its probably the same reason why I prefer Donkey Kong Land over Donkey Kong Country even though the latter is clearly more technically impressive. By the time I played DKC I had already played DKL to death so to me DKC seemed like more of the same and didn't have the same impact.
The first half felt repetitive and like Ocarina of Time. But after the big scene after the third dungeon, it started to become interesting and unique. Overall it was a good game, and I thought the Gamecube version is a lot better than the Wii version.

I liked it, it's classical Zelda fun, the story was cliché, but I like a well written cliché so it was good for me, I loved Midna, she became my favorite Zelda character, great music, nice graphics, but it has a major flaw, In two words: TOO EASY.
Seriously, it has like zero challenge, the enemies barely hurt you, the dungeons (including puzzles and boss battles) were like a breeze after Ocarina and Majora's, the cave of ordeals was the hardest and I considered it slightly difficult, and the last boss was a walk on the park; the only "hard" thing I found was to collect poes, and it wasn't really hard, just plain annoying (waking around all day, sun sets, look for the things, dawn comes, repeat), I got bored and quit that quest, the bugs were ok, and heart pieces are classical, but 5 per heart?, why?, to add more challenge? it didn't work .
All and all, it's a good game, and I enjoyed it, but it's nothing special, still, I may play the GC version (I already have it anyway), I wouldn't collect all the hearts, and having things mirrored may confuse me and give it a little more challenge.

why flip the entire game just because most people are right handed? That's just stupid.
Agreed on this (I still don't see how that was any easier for them than it would have been to just flip the character model and animations), but at the same time it's like having a Master Quest version of the game when you play the other one. (In other words, it's good that it messes with your head a little.)
I don't know about "hours long" but some people didn't care too much for all the errand running in Ordon Village early in the game before they let you go anywhere else. In particular, the part where many people got stuck the first time through was fishing for the first time and not knowing what exactly they're supposed to do because the game doesn't bother to explain it.
This is a great game, i found it better than Ocarina of Time. (i said that because many people compares this and OoT) I haven't finished this game yet but i'm close to beat it!
I never realized until now that so many people didn't like this game. I thought it was freaking amazing, but it's not Ocarina. Wow, I LOVED this game, it just doesn't have the replayability of other Zelda titles, just because it's so epic. It's like watching Lord of the Rings or something; not a movie you'd want to watch over and over, just because it takes so much time and effort to do so.
As a longtime Zelda fan, I was pretty disappointed by Twilight Princess. The main reason definitely was the high linearity. There's no intended chance of doing things out of order. The world exploration is linear, the dungeon order is linear and the dungeons theirselves are linear. The only thing, that was not linear, were some of the sidequests, but collecting those Poe Souls and bugs was pretty boring. They made the game so linear because of the story, but the story wasn't really appealling, unlike for example The Wind Waker's story it was an absolute "I don't give a f**k"-story. I couldn't care less for the whole Twilight Realm thing, everything felt made up, just because they had this little idea of Link turning into a wolf. And there was too much story, earlier Zelda games did have a better balance for story telling than endless boring cutscenes.
And the port of the Wii version, which delayed the game for an entire year, was mediocre. I mean, they mirrored the entire graphics of the game just to make Link right-handed, which caused massive confusion and a good portion of headaches when I played the Wii version for the first time and which was totally cheap. And the gimmicky controls don't reall justify any of it.

I agree that it's epic, it's just doesn't do much the other 3D zelda's haven't done better. I personally think they need to give the series a rest. I would like to see something different for a change--Majora's Mask was great because it was so different.
The only 3D Zelda that hasn't felt completely linear was Wind Waker, and even then you had to do dungeons in order (I think -- I only played it once) and it was mostly sailing around empty ocean, so a healthy dose of linearity would have done it some good. Part of me wants to write off the entire series since Ocarina due to this, not just Twilight Princess, but I also somewhat accept the series for what it's become. If you go into it expecting linearity, I actually think it's a notch above Ocarina. The action is a little bit better. The wolf gives it more variety. And the dungeons are bigger and more challenging -- not that that means much.
On one hand, I think that despite the dreary story and tacked on motion controls, this is the pinnacle of the 3D series; on the other hand, that is only saying that it's better than other average games.
AAAGH! This thread is becoming painful to read for someone like me.
I love all 3-D Zelda's and find nothing else is quite so immersive. I want to live in Hyrule and these games help me pretend I do, for a bit. You shall all bow before the might of Other Z, come on Nintendo, blow us all away!
