Also, everything is balanced. No items or characters in the game suck.
Except for Jigglypuff.

Except for Jigglypuff being one of the better characters. Link and Samus are the two worst, but they aren't nearly as underpowered as characters in the later installments.
Link was seemed a little overpowered to me in Melee, but both him and Samus were weakened in Brawl. Jigglypuff was the weakest in SSB, and wasn't very powerful at all.

Jigglypuff stinks in Melee and Brawl, so I thought she also stunk in SSB64.
