Gaming since the NES, I'm looking to fill one Wii menu page up with classics, already have All-Stars Wii LE, here's what I got so far...
1. Super Mario World 2. Super Mario 64 3. Zelda: A Link to to the Past 4. Zelda: Ocarina of Time 5. Super Metroid 6. Donkey Kong Country 7. Donkey Kong Country 2 8.Donkey Kong Country 3 9. Star Fox 64 10. Cave Story 11. ??? 12. ???
... need two more ... Chrono Trigger and Super Mario World 2 would do it, but I don't think they are coming sadly.
BIT.TRIP RUNNER Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
/me waits for lockage
“The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall.” - "Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them."
World of Goo on steam, so I'm covered. I want to like majorias mask, but its a strange entry... but I hear its quite good. Saving Mario Kart for 3DS. Saving Metroid for zero mission instead. Not into Mario RPGs. Not sure what bit trip stuff is... ill read up on it.
My other picks were Castlevania games, but I'm more of a metrovania fan, so I tend to discount them. I like Wave Race 64, but SSX 3 for the gamecube played on my Wii crushes it gameplay wise. yes yes, I found a new copy! I tend to go for 16-bit and up, but I may have to do some 8-bit games.
Which brings up another thing, should I get any gamecube games besides SSX 3? I was thinking a top 5 there... SSX 3, Mgs twin snakes, eternal darkness, and two more like Pikmin 2, sunshine, celda...
I just searched for new copies on amazon. They exist, but are pricey and rare. Is totally buy a reprint, or should I say WiiPrint, of Mgs twin snakes or eternal darkness say.
Oh and I do know that star fox 64 and Zelda 64 are coming to the 3ds, but you can't put a 3DS game on the big screen and the portable Mario Kart games are simply better imho.

11 Kirby's Fun Pak 12 Tetris Party
Edit: Sorry. 11 Paper Mario 12 Secret of Mana
**** no! Edit again: 11 Majora's Mask 12 a place for Earthbound

Yes, good games. definately start with them. Add Paper Mario, Fire Emblem and Chibi Robo later.
My suggestions: Majora's Mask Two favorite NES Mario games Super Smash Bros. NES Legend of Zelda Two favorite Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis games.
As for Gamecube games, you're not generally going to find new ones for a reasonable price. You can find complete used ones in good condition (case, manual, game disc) for around $10-$20, depending on the game, on ebay. That's really your best bet for picking them up. I got Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine just recently for about $10 each (including shipping).
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
Hey everyone, I just picked up Eternal Darkness! New! and it costs... **cough** $73 delivered **cough**. It was worth it tho as I decided that it's the only other Gamecube game I really want along side SSX 3. IMHO, all the other Gamecube games, for my money anyway, are better done in sequels or elsewhere, or have been ported to the Wii already. Not really putting down the Gamecube collection of games, but I have to balance my retro budget verses my new releases budget too ya know. Its's not a money budget, but with my limited time, I'm forcasting only a top 100 across all my systems. Sure more will come out, but I'm being as forward thinking as possible with it by anticipating desired sequels, leaving extra spots, etc. I always wanted a top one hundred collection, and now I get to do it. Eternal Darkness was Silcon Knights at their best. The best things about Eternal Darkness was the story, voice-work and atmosphere, and I never expect this one to ever be re released again or bested in any way, it was and remains unique =)
Also, I did decide to not get the Wii versions of Cave Story, Zelda 64 and Star Fox 64. I'll get them on the 3DS, along side the 3DS virtual console versions of Super Mario World 2, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Zelda Minish Cap, Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, and not to mention a DLC dose of some Shantie Risky's Revenge.

my top 100 is kinda broken down like this in numbers:
3DS = 25 games in DLC/3DS/DS formats
Wii = 25 games in DLC/Wii/GC formats
PS3 = 35 games in PSN/PS3 formats
PC = 15 games in Steam/BattleNet formats
So that's 50% Nintendo there, for those keeping count. I love me some Nintendo, but I could never live without my PS3. Uncharted 2 told me so. Sadly, I wish I had room and dollars for some great 360 and PS2 games, but I had to draw the line somewhere. There is always hope for ports or even better new projects. Like I may not get Halo Reach, but Bungie's next even better project is coming to the PS3 no doubt. I want a Final Fantasy X and X-2 PS3 Collection please!

Eternal Darkness is definately worth $100, but seeing lots of used copies here around 9.99, I think you paid a little too much.
I really didn't want a used copy, I'm far too anal. I could spend a ton mixing and matching covers slips, discs, cases, and instruction books. I know, I've done it! And that rarely beats out the crisp quality of a new copy.
I'll have to start a top 100 thread, I'm kinda getting off track here, but in a good way. you seem to know where the 'edit' link is, please use it instead of triple-posting :3 -- TBD
EDIT: Sorry! I run into issues with quotes in faster conversations as I craft my posts. Won't happen again sir!
So I settled on a top 25 VC/Wii collection! I decided that it would be split 10 VC and 15 Wii/GC:
VC
1. Super Mario Bros. 3 2. Super Mario World 3. Super Mario 64 4. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 5. Super Metroid (quite possibly the best title on here!) 6. Donkey Kong Country 7. Donkey Kong Country 2 8. Donkey Kong Country 3 9. Super Castlevania 4 10. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
Notes:
A - Decided on 8 bit Super Mario Bros. 3 as it was more classic and my sister wanted the Wii All Stars LE I had.
B - Decided that Zelda 64 was better off on my 3DS. Same with Star Fox 64 and Cave Story.
Wii:
11. New Super Mario Bros. 12. Super Mario Galaxy 13. Super Mario Galaxy 2 14. Donkey Kong Country Returns 15. Zelda: Twilight Princess 16. Zelda: Skyward Sword 17. Metroid Prime Trilogy 18. Metroid: Other M 19. Pikmin 2 20. Pikmin 3
