As a long-time Nintendo user, I’m chuffed to see the big N back on top, and excited to see what the future will bring ...But, given the massive success of the Wii, will the weight of expectation cast a shadow over the next generation? And will long-time fans be disappointed if Nintendo’s next-gen console is more of the same, rather than the technical behemoth it could potentially be?
I think Nintendo can build off the success of the Wii on their next console. I'm pretty sure they're gonna update the tech in their console now that technology is getting cheaper.

I would hope the next console to be at least as powerful as teh 360, with a much better online structure and storage solution. If it doesn't, I wont care (publicly), just give me a massive launch game from Mario, Zelda or Samus, and I will be a happy bunny.
I believe it will be a mixture of both. Nintendo will keep the motion controls, with better graphics and maybe add some sort of camera and more media options. Nintendo has to keep making great games, that's most important.
As long as it has that pizza maker installed, I'm all for it.
Lasers would be cool as well.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Same here.
I do think Nintendo will keep to the strategy of building consoles which do not cost more than they sell for. With this in mind, there will be limited improvements they will able to make so the focus will be where it will make the most impact.
So, where would improvement make the most impact?
For one, the storage issue. It's something cheap (now) to really address so that the increase in WiiWARE limits can be done. I'm thinking that WiiWARE/DSiWARE is really going to be a cash cow for Nintendo.
Two, an "HD Solution". Not necessarily full HD support but at least 720p. Why? Because a lot of HD tvs are finally really flooding homes and most are at least 720 capable.
Three, controls innovation. The nintendo fan is going to get a console anyways. The software alone will take care of that. (How the hell did the Gamecube survive the last Gen?) The two above solutions are cheap and will get attention. But what nintendo understands is you have to hit mainstream and I think most of the $$$ will be used to find that next control innovation. Something to make the masses switch up from the wii, much like the masses are willingly switching up to the DSi.
I hope that it will like a 360 with their online stuff,so talking and stuff, but still with much new stuff and some more adultish games instead of anime and mario and animal crossing.anyways, they will want the wii out while it is stile selling for as long as possible to make more money.
I have a wii, wish it was an xbox360 with Wii controls...
I don't want much more from the next Wii, to be honest. Higher quality visuals would be a plus, and a more robust online experience/ downloadable games (which I generally prefer to retail now) would be great as well, but other than that, I love the Wii as it is.
How about free Wi-Fi,Motion Detecter so you can use your hand's instead,Facebook & Twitter link,HD graffic's,Windows XP support,& iphone app's?I hope that will come to next gen Wii console.

Thanks everyone for your comments thus far, (in particular: Machu, retrobuttons, Bigdog, WaltzElf) this was an honest question, and I am genuinely interested to hear the thoughts of long-time Nintendo users ...so, cheers.
Well, for Nintendo's next console, I think that the current fans now will be more or less thinking of the same experience that they have now with the Wii. I'm not necessarily talking about motion control, but, as @Bigdog said, another "control innovation." All in all, Nintendo has never let their fans down so drastically as to have them leave, they are a quality company and are treated as such. And they probably always will be.

Comcast/US Cable/etc, Natal, possible but really?, yes, Microsoft, Apple.
i.e. Wi-Fi is impossible unless Nintendo decides to start acquiring network providers I'd really rather have at least a couple buttons so that not every action is mapped to a motion Facebook & Twitter links? Isn't this what your computer is for? HD Graphics are likely Windows is a Microsoft property. Also, the current iteration is Windows 7. I suppose MS could (and probably would, even) allow Nintendo to add Windows to it... for an extra $100 per system. And there is no way Apple would allow an i-app store on any other device besides an Apple device. Ever.
If you want all of the features you listed, I would suggest something from this site.
