What are the chances of Nintendo Life doing a full review of Sonic3&Knuckles? To be fair, I feel it's a game the has earned its 10 and needs to be recognised as such (IMO) As you know, there is a lot of extra content contained within S3&K that dosent get accounted for in either individual games review, especially at the very end (spoiler: epic space battle!!) Also, this was the final product the developers intended when they first sat down around the drawing board.
So Sonic3 gets an 8, fair enough. Sonic & Knuckles gets an 8, fair enough (It's a 9 for me personally, but I can understand why 8) But together, they made an unbeliveable gaming experiance unrivialed by anything else at the time on that system. Complete gaming ecstasy, and Sonic at the very peak of his career.
So what I'm saying is, if you feel Nintendo Life should recognise Sonic3&Knuckles with a full and proper review, and the score it deseves to be awarded (or if you dont) then voice your opinion below in the comments section. And maybe NL might be so kind as to provide if there is enough interest? Ha! I hope so anyways!
I completely agree. Sonic 3 & Knuckles needs its own review with a 10/10 score (unless the frustration of Sandopolis Zone, Act 2 is enough to take off a point).
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Really? I always liked Sandopolis Zone, act 1+2. I'm trying to think now of a zone I didnt like in that game, but cant! lol! The only zone that springs to mind is Oil Ocean from Sonic2. I dispised Oil Ocean from Sonic2!!! >
Act 1 is fine, but in Act 2 you've got killer ghosts that always follow you that you have to continually get rid of with the light switches, areas with rising sand that can very easily crush you, annoying timed switches for doors, spikes everywhere, huge difficulty in avoiding losing a life from the time limit, and a boss with its own time limit in which to beat it before you run out of room and get crushed.

Ah, well those things dont bother me much. Not sure what you mean about the boss having a time limit, you should have him well destroyed before you reach that back wall!!
How would you rate Sonic1&Knuckles and Sonic2&Knuckles?
If Sonic3&Knuckles gets reviewed why not 1 & 2?
You mean Blue Sphere? There never was a Sonic 1 & Knuckles.
and just to clarify it was knuckles in sonic 2 not sonic 2 and knuckles. just sayin
Yeah, I think common sense in this case would suggest no need for a Knuckles in Sonic2 review. That was just a novel bonus was all, fun and all, but you are only going to play through it once. Ya know, just to see
Sorry, I'm new to the classic Sonic series. I purchased Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3 for Mega Drive (1500pts) at the SEGA sale in December. I've beaten them now and just gather some info about the lock-on-features before spending 800pts on Sonic & Knuckles.

Yeah, Knuckles in Sonic 2 hardly adds anything to Sonic 2. I would even rate it worse due to no coop multiplayer, no versus mode, and no cheat codes.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles doesn't deserved to be recognized, it's not all that good. If anything Sonic 3 and Knuckles should be a 7 because the addition of the Knuckles content adds pointless unenjoyable length to the game (not that I'd give either of them a 7, I'm just running it off the posted review scores)
Harsh man, harsh. Then again I don't remember any video game on which you gave positive feedback, so it's expected. I mean, you hated Mega Man 9, after all.
So many levels. 3 Characters to choose from and one has his own story.
Super Emeralds additions.
The perfect Sonic game in other words. WE WANT A REVIEW WE WANT A REVIEW WE WANT A REVIEW lol

Don't forget that you also get to use the save system and coop multiplayer for the S&K levels in addition to the S3 levels.

Well yeah, the gimmicks weren't much fun. Super annoying beams of lava, pointless flying water tanks, zippers and scissors. Tornado Man's stage had a good gimmick though. Also hate is a strong word, didn't care for is more accurate, although when I give it another go after 7 and 8, hopefully I'll enjoy it more.
I like the NES ones better, the level design was less gimmick based, and better for it. Then for the levels with gimmicks, they were usually pretty good (Gravity Man anyone?).
