Topic: Should I Get TMNT?

Posts 1 to 12 of 12

Good

I used to own this game on the NES back in the day and I want to buy it again but it's gotten mediocre to poor reviews lately. Should I buy this game, I know a lot of people hate this game (like the AVGN) because of it's difficulty and it got a 3/10 from this site but hey at least IGN give this a 5.5/10. I really want to know if this game is worth 600 points. Thanks!

I bought it. My only problem with it is jumping in certain areas. If you have nostalgic feelings towards a game, you should probably buy it.

No. All we can do is hope for the better TMNT games to arrive on the Virtual Console.

I do have some nostalgia towards this game. I played this game when I was about 5 or 6 and I couldn't get past the dam in level 2. I know a lot of people hate this game but I think I'm really going to buy it for nostalgia. After all I'm not downloading this for free off the internet just to play on a PC emulator which I don't use anymore.

Okay I got this along with Neo Turf Masters. I really think TMNT isn't all horrible but there were a lot of difficult parts in the game. Anyways, I'm saving my other 500 points for Blaster Master when it's released on Monday.

I actually thought the dam area was pretty easy (save for the time limit).

No No NO! Stay away from that game. It's horrible.

LOL I also couldn't get past the dam, and not because of the time limit, but because I couldn't find the detonators. Yeah, I suck.

Not even past the dam? Wow. I also had the game as a little boy, and I got all the way to the Technodrome, the final stage, although I never did beat it. After the dam you still have a loooong way to go... you've barely even played the game if you've only seen the first two maps.

Also, it's a great game in its own incredibly frustrating way. I'd not recommend it for anyone who didn't play it back in the day, but if you've already got the nostalgia, and you only made it to the dam before, there's plenty of gameplay left to make it worth the 600. Just don't expect to ever beat it, unless you obsessively follow the scroll-gathering strategy and manage to play nearly flawless for the entire session.

Actually, I still have my cartridge, so no need to spend $6 here.

Yes. It was a liscensed game, so it was a special case.
