Thabks to GoNintendo through some watchful eyes, some guy found this carzy (yet hilarious and obviously untrue) Wii 2/Wii HD rumor on a forum.
My two cents: Apparently this guy had too much 'shrooms over by Peach's Castle. Nintendo supporting Sony? Hell no. Once again I re-iterate: The only thing I will believe is what Miyamoto said about the Big N moving in step with technology so HD is probably the next thing for the Unnamed Nintendo 8th Generation Console.
How would Nintendo be supporting Sony in all of this?
According to the rumor, the Wii HD will support Blu-Ray, but there's some problems with this... 1. Sony would never allow Nintendo to add a Blu-Ray player to their gaming console. 2. Nintendo would never pay Sony to be allowed to add a Blu-Ray player to their gaming console.

Sony doesn't own all of the rights to Blu- Ray. They own 1/9 of the rights. The rights are owned by Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, Lucky GoldStar, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung. I'm sure if Nintendo wanted to they could buy the use of it from some other company on that list. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc_Association)
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
Nintendo: Hell no! Another franchise may lose its appeal! (But thank God Zelda was saved by A Link to the Past )
But the diff is that the CD-i was an add-on and this (though not happening) is a console.
You have no proof that it isn't happening, I don't believe it is true either, but it is very possible.
Hey, I don't believe in this two-bit crackpot but it's fun vreaking it down to see the impossibilities and actualities which could happen.
As for the Blu-ray thing, I was just joking about the CD-i thing with Philips. I've seen those Zelda games. They're not even Frogger-worthy much less to be called a Zelda game.
The only thing I'd think would make this true is this:
On average it takes Miyamoto four years to make a console Zelda game. If we were to assume that they've been working on the new game since the completion of Twilight Princess in 2006, that would put the release for a new Zelda game in...2010. The same release time as the "leaked specs". What better way to put out a Zelda game than as a launch title for ANOTHER Nintendo console?
pretty silly rumor. I can't say it's totally far fetched but it seems like a pretty big blunder to let something like this leak, it's very unlike them. Even if there was any truth to it now, I think by then so much of that will change that it won't matter. For one thing Blu-ray still isn't that big of a deal, and it isn't owned by just sony anymore as someone else said so it's not a bad idea, but blu-ray won't really be that much of a draw anyway.
What it really needs is a good movie download service like netflix. Blu ray won't actually take hold completely before digital downloads do, I believe. Unless Blu-Ray magically gets a lot cheaper, it won't completely take over at all, DVDs are just fine, and downloads are even cheaper. The Wii proved that low pricing rules all. THe trade in thing seems nice but is a total pipe dream. If they could really implement that it would be amazing but it sounds rediculous unless they have some way they could profit from it or actually use those materials. Thats a lot of Wii systems, could they really do something with them? Or dare I say even Recycle them? Doesn't sound like Nintendo at all. Sounds like a crackpot rumor. if there was any truth to it, maybe that would mean we could keep our VC and WW games, though. I hope that happens. Everything else is obvious, rumor or not.
Nintendo's next console having Blu-Ray: possible since Nintendo is WAY too worried about pirates, but Nintendo would never pay THEIR COMPETITOR for one of their products.
Making a Before-The-Month-It's-Released Announcement: Technically, Nintendo has basically already announced that they're working on the next console, so the story is definitely a fake.

"It's the whole "trade in your old Wii for a reduced price on the Wii2" thing that made me call BS right away. That's just not Nintendo."
That wasn't my experience. I called Nintendo to inquire about 480P on my GameCube (which didn't have the rear port for it) and they told me to send mine in for a brand new one that did. All I had to pay was the shipping. I love Nintendo!!
