OK, I admit it. I suck at video games. I desperately need help from someone who doesn't.
I'm following the instructions I got in one of the MPT threads but they aren't working. According to the thermal visor, the Omega Pirate is taking ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER when I hit him with super missiles after I've knocked his armor off. No damage. None. Zilch. Nothing. None when he's bent over before he disappears and none after he disappears. NO DAMAGE. I've even knocked his armor off a second time and hit him with more super missiles and nothing. No damage.
OK, so now I'm guessing maybe I have to hit a SPECIFIC SINGLE PIXEL somewhere on the Omega Pirate to do any damage. OK, WHICH PIXEL IS IT???? Do I have to hit the center of a mole on his left ring finger???
This is so bizarre I'm wondering if maybe I saved the game at a bad point and a bug in the game has made the OP invincible. I scanned the OP (while he was still inside his tube thing) and the platform switch thing off to the right of the arena and then went back and saved the game. That way when I retry I don't have to scan the OP again or fight the plasma pirate in the passage leading to the arena. Could saving the game like this have screwed something up?
I have had no problems with any of the other bosses (or "mini-bosses") in MP1. Most of them I beat on my first attempt. And this is the first time I've played MP1 (or any MP game, for that matter).
Step 1. Lay a power bomb at this feet. This should destroy all his armor. If not, destroy the remaining with your power beam, missiles, or another power bomb if you have plenty to spare (I think I had 7 going into that fight).
Step 2. Wait for him to disappear. He will call upon some troopers. Kill them as fast as possible. If it's taking longer than 30 seconds, ignore them and search for Omega Pirate.
Step 3. Search for Omega Pirate. Turn on your X-Ray visor (NOT thermal visor) and look around the room. Keep moving and looking until you see him - he will be on top of one of the Phazon puddles. When you find him, shoot him directly in the chest (you should be auto-locked on to his chest) with your plasma beam until one of the following happens: 1. He regains all his normal armor and reappears in normal sight. Repeat steps 1-3 until he is dead. 2. He disappears and reappears in another phazon puddle. Keep shooting him.
Yeah, I don't think you can hit his weak spot when you're using the thermal visor, it HAS to be the X-Ray visor. Just lock onto him and hit his big old round gut with a Super Missle. Super Missles are the absolute best weapon to use against him because when you hit him, he'll stop recharging and look for another Phazon puddle to rebuild in thus giving you another chance to hit him with yet another Super Missle. I managed to kill him and only had to knock his armor off the one time, after three Super Missles, he was toast. (On normal mode) He's a hard boss when you don't know what you're doing but a real push over when you do it this way.
Edit: Also, I did the same thing as you and scanned the Omega in the tube, went back to save, then returned for the fight and I had no problems so there is likely no such glitch. I think you just need to use the X-Ray visor instead of the Thermal.
Honestly I didn't even think to use the super missile (for whatever dumb reason) but I was able to hit him 3-4 times per appearance with the regular missile, and he'd make two vulnerable appearances each time you knocked off his armor. Just keep hitting the fire button, and don't wait for your missiles to collide before you press it again. Be quick enough and you'll get multiple shots in.
Also, someone told me the power bomb weakness was removed in this version, so I didn't even try it! Can anyone confirm that it's still possible to knock all his armor off with a power bomb?
I just ended up hitting him with the default arm cannon until the armor shattered. Wasn't too bad...the worst part was avoiding the darned phazon puddles while trying to sidestep him. Not easy.
The Super Missle is your best friend in this game. Also I think the Power Bomb trick still works in this version. I usually just use the Plasma Beam to knock his armor off though. Guess I'll try that next time I play through and beat him even quicker.

I will confirm. I died to him 2 or 3 times (on Veteran) before trying power bombs against him. Made the fight verrrry easy.
X-ray!!! Why was I thinking thermal??? I think I need a brain transplant. Make that two brain transplants (one for each of Zaphod's mostly empty heads).
Morphology: Omega Pirate, most powerful of the Elite Pirate Forces. Omega Pirate can become invisible to normal sight. It is vulnerable when cloaked, as all energy is drawn from defense systems. By exposing itself to Phazon, it can regenerate damaged tissue and organs. Considered the pinnacle of the Elite Pirate program, this enemy should be handled with extreme caution and maximum firepower.
Remember, when you get stuck, your logbook entry is your friend! Go through each part of the log entry and figure out what it could mean, and you will soon find your solution (X-Ray visor).
Yup, I had read the log book. I knew I had to use a visor. I just don't know why thermal was burned in on my synapses. That's why I think I need a brain transplant.
Thanks, everyone!!! I nuked him on my FIRST ATTEMPT thanks to using the correct visor!!!
I've beaten Omega in less than 2 minutes in Hyper with the simple PowBomb + Super missile strategy and with only 25% damage. Oh, and I devised it by my own, well it was a bit lucky since I planted a PowBomb to get rid of the Colored pirates, or try to do so but the Omega steped on me and the PB went boom and blow the whole 4 phazon patches in Hyper. For me MP1 Hyper difficulty was near "Easy" I finished the game in 6:12 with 100% But MP2 is another story since I must fight smart to avoid getting killed. Until now I've only died once fighting my nemesis, the damn Boost guardian XD For me, it is the hardest sub-boos in the game since you don't have safe zones to recurse and it also summons the damn black poodle monsters but in the second run I killed it since I was super focused. Right now I'm only 2 sub-Guardians and Quadraxis away from the final collect and the final bosses. So I think tomorrow is gonna be a great day since that will place the last "dot" of 9 in my save file. I love fighting Quadraxis, since it is a really fun fight and the music + enviroment makes it a titanic fight, easy but titanic XD Well, this will be my first Hyper against Quad, I expect not to get dissapointed from my fav Boss. Bring it Terminator Quadraxis.

I remembered the Power Bomb weakness from the first playthrough I did years ago, and skipped it this time because some bozo on a forum somewhere (don't think it was here) said it didn't work in the Trilogy version. My own fault for not confirming that.

Are you really saying that in 21 days, you have beaten MP1 3 times, MP3 3 times, and MP2 twice (and close to the end again)?
That is dedication. How will you ever be able to enjoy these games ever again? That's way too much Metroid in way too short of a period imo.
Well, when I get a game I love so much I get addicted, the first 2 weeks where marathonic since I almost didn't sleept, but now I'm enjoying it even more since now I can lower my pase and "play". Right now I only need to beat Ing emperor and Dark Samus final forms to end the MP2 in Hyper. i got killed by the Emperor's 3rd phase since I was too reckless and I got badly "injured" during the first 2 phases that at the start of the third I had only 4 tanks and an aunstoning 0 missiles XD but 200+ Light and Dark ammo. I mannaged to get it to less than 33% health but couldn't resist anymore and Samus passed away XD I stoped playing for today since goin to a second round will get me desperate and frustrated if I loss, so tomorrow might be the day.
Oh, an Quadraxis was really fun and easy in Hyper, I loved that fight.
After completing MP2 in Hyper and having the perfect save file + All galleries and bonus purchased, I'll take the disc out from my Wii for the first time since Aug 26th and play another game to relax, like Fire emblem, I love that game, Its like chess but improved
TAKE THAT DAMN ING EMPEROR YOU'RE NO MATCH FOR SAMUS!!! Dark samus 3 & 4 was "easy", thanks to the energy core that replenished all my energy XD If not I would died hehe. Done, now for a well deserved rest. Hyper at 100% + 100% scans: MP1 6:12 Hrs MP2 8:02 Hrs MP3 6:52 Hrs No doubt wich one is the hardest.
Quadraxis was very simple. It seems its main superpower was to spew ultra-energy pickups at me.
Yes Quadraxis is indeed easy even on Hyper. I didn't even look at my Energy bar during the whole battle, I might only got about 100 damage or so since none of the main attacks landed on me. I like the battle because the boss is cool XD the music also helps and fighting a huge machine (mobileturret-like) is great. I only got low on Missiles since I prefer using SMissiles on the knees instead of charged Light beams (I needed about 3-4 Super Missiles for each knee to break it, and what I like to do is to hit each knee in a sequence until one breaks, so right when it stand up again all the remaining only need 1 hit each to break, so it will stand recieve 1 single shot and get on its knees again and so until it gets useless and the module must separate XD), I use the Light beam when you need to stun Quadraxis module to climb the Spider tracks, they work marvells on Hyper 1.5 charged hits and it goes dizzy.
