Im kinda both. I originally thought nostalgia but then TWEWY came around...
But Mario and Zelda are kinda nostalgic for me so...

I've downloaded for both reasons, but I guess mostly new experience, and to add something to my collection I didn't have yet. Or never had the system to play it on. NES, Super NES and N64 games used to be damn expensive. SNES in particular, from what I remember (this was brought up in the news about Mega Man X on VC... it was over $70). This is the first time it's been fiscally reasonable to make massive gains in your video game collection.

And until PlayStation, I only got Nintendo systems, so VC opened up many other doors for me there.

Some of it's for nostalgic reasons too. Several of the games I have, I once (or repeatedly) rented and liked way back when, but didn't buy for whatever reason (for instance, lack of 70 or 80 gil lying around ).

I haven't yet bought a VC game that I already own the cart for (except ones I originally bought used). I'm tempted to do so and see how the picture quality compares to their game pak counterpart. But that's a can of worms my OCD self shouldn't open. Because once I've gotten one, I'll feel compelled to have every game I already own on VC as well. May have to make an exception for Final Fantasy II/IV, though, as I seem to lose my game saves on my old SNES game.

Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D

Mostly because I haven't played them before because I was a PC gamer when I was a kid.

I never got a chance to play any home console games made before the Gamecube era, so all of this is new to me. It's great that I can play games that were made 10 years before I was even born.

VC for the 3DS will be nostalgia city for me, I played a lot of old gameboy games. Can't wait!

Nostolgia made me buy all the Nes/Snes Marios (which I love them all!) and Super Dodge Ball and Sonic. The rest have been games I missed out on... especially Turbographix 16 games. I really really wanted one when I was a teen. I would stare at my Sears/JC Penny catalogs at Christmas time wishing for Santa to bring me a Turbographix 16 with Bonk. Never happened, so thanks VC you help make my 14 year old me very happy.

I'm quite new to the whole gaming scene, so I mostly buy VC games for new experiences. Well, the first game I got for VC was Mario Kart 64, which I'd played and absolutely loved when I was younger, so I guess there was some nostalgia there. I'm planning to eventually buy Adventure Island (which I used to play a little of a long time ago) and Super Mario World (which I've played sooooo much on my GBA. I'd love to try the original version). But yeah, mostly new ones. And I have got so much to choose from!

Your Nostalgia, make me sick!
It's always good to burn old games, so you can make room for new and better ones.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Seriously, JumpMad? Should we burn Citizen Kane to make room for the Twilight Saga?

I'd say about 40% nostalgia and 60% new experiences. One thing I really love about the VC is that I am able to play games I never got to play growing up (namely TG16) and some obscure imports. I just wish they would release more imports.

Mostly new experiences, a la Super Metroid, Ys Book I & II, Neutopia, Neutopia II, Kirby's Adventure, Zanac, Gate of Thunder, etc.
But, of course, I purchased some games I already own and most of which I'd already beaten, such as A Link to the Past, Metroid, Super Mario 3/World, and Faxanadu.

Mostly new experiences. I have never owned a SNES, Mega Drive, TG16 or anything older than a N64, so most are new experiences for me. The only games I have downloaded for nostalgic reasons are Super Mario 64 and Pokemon Puzzle, and I haven't really played those games that much.

Malkeor

Most of the games I download are actually new experiences...though for some like Super Mario RPG, I haven't played that in over a decade, so getting that again, for cheap, would be exciting.

Both of course. Nostaligia cravings are always strong, but so is the want to play through games that look really interesting or are considered legendary by most of the gaming community. Usually i just alternate between the factors when getting VC games so that i buy a game i've already owned/played with 1000 points and then a game that i haven't played before with the next 1000 points

This is a little of topic, but I have to ask. Am I the only one who felt a sudden rush of nostalgia when playing Zelda: Link's Awakening for the first time ever? No other game has ever done that to me, it's really weird.

New experience. Downloading games for old systems that don't own or have the capabilities to play imports on is where it goes down to.

Not for me, but I was 10 when I first played it and it was new at the time.
