It's got great potential, but yes, the Sun are well known for their cavalier attitude towards the truth.

You can even get around the whole 'Doctor doesn't carry guns' thing by having the odd level where you play as other characters from the show who DO.

Whatever happens it can't be worse than that top trump game from a couple of years back.

Can it?

There was talk about this a few months ago (the the BBC folks discussing their interest in publishing a game based on the Doctor), hopefully the actual deal was finally inked and this isn't just another case of The Sun stretching tidbits into facts.

Wiimote = Sonic Screwdriver = WIN.

Meanhwile, i'm sure i'll warm to the new Doctor once the episodes start up (i was similarly apprehensive when Tenant replaced Eccleston, but that wore off way quick) , but damn i miss Tenant.

The trailers look very encouraging I have to say. Everything I've sen of Smith screams 'Doctor', from the Troughton-esque costume to the rather otherworldly air.

Having devoted second's thought to it, something like Professor Layton, coupled with the 'running away from monsters' bits from Crash could conceivably work.

This is why I'm not a games developer.

Yes, something Layton-esque would be an excellent approach! Or perhaps a point-and-click style adventure game with some action bits here and there.

And yeah, Smith does seem the part. I did like his tiny bit at the end of the final Tenant ep, even if he was clearly (intentionally) aping Tenant's dialogue style. I just hope he's able to nail that "tragic darkness inside" aspect that Tenant (and Eccleston, to a lesser degree) hit so perfectly.

See now, I'm proper old-skool Who(I'm old enough to remember Tom Baker regenerating into Peter Davison back in 1981) and the upcoming series has more of old-skool-but-without-alienating-the-new-fans vibe to it, if the trailers are anything to go by.

Plus, a number of old-skool baddies(some of whom haven't been seen on screen for nearly 30 years) are rumoured to be returning.

GET IN!

Being in the US, my exposure to Who was sadly limited, though i did watch it in the early 80s when one of our local PBS stations would air it back to back with Blake's 7 (which was a show that i absolutely LOVED; recently managed to snag DVD-burns of the entire run). Primarily Baker episodes, of course. I believe i did hear that the next series will be a little more throwback, which is certainly fine. Regardless, i need my Who! Thankfully for this series, the US airings on BBC America are supposed to be only a few weeks behind you all, instead of the months and months delay when it was running on SciFi.

Recently, I've discovered some episodes of Dr. Who on Netflix-on-demand (I'm in the U.S.). I'm not too brainy on which seasons are which, but it might be worth checking out for some of you Who fans. fyi.

I just hope that, if or when a game is developed, it gets released in the US as well as the UK. I'm such a Who fan that I might even buy it if it has a metacritic score of 29 or something.

Well, maybe not quite that big a fan, but it might be a tempting rental...

unfortuantely moco loco, i can't see that happening, and it's a shame. every exclusive should be out in all the regions. this region thing is the most frustrating and annoying thing i can think of.

So ends a saga older than time itself.

Man, I hope this is true (but as mentioned above, this is The Sun we're talking about here). Here's the whole gameplay outline for you, Nintendo:

Donna: [about the Doctor] He saves planets, rescues civilizations, defeats terrible creatures... and runs a lot. Seriously, there is an outrageous amount of running involved.

Now go make it

Raylax, this game is confirmed i think.
