Topic: Nintendo of America is unpredictable about their VC and WiiWare releases.

Why can't Nintendo of America announce their VC and WiiWare releases ahead of time like Nintendo of Japan does. Why? I want to buy Crystal Defenders R1 but I'm thinking about waiting because... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS COMING OUT NEXT WEEK! I'm trying to save my 2000 points for SSB but I don't know if it's coming out next week or not! Ridiculous!

I can see how that's frustrating, but I've always enjoyed the surprise (though most typically it's a lack thereof). It makes Monday mornings a little more bearable.

Besides, would you really be happy if they gave out a list of games that are coming out next month that you didn't want? Then there would be a whole month for people to complain about it. I can live without that.

I like surprises too. There just seems to be an unfortunate trend with NOA releases. Low quality titles are for the most part released throughout the first half of the year, yet closer to the holidays games seem to increase in both quality and quantity. Look at last years releases as a perfect example.

That's true, but then I can save up my points and wouldn't have to worry when a good game was coming out and wouldn't have to waste my points. But the surprises are sometimes nice, sometimes they're mixed [like today],and sometimes just horrible.
Also,I'm just about ready to buy Crystal Defenders R1 and I will still have just enough points to buy SSB next week,IF it comes out that is. I also feel like Nintendo is ripping me off by not showing what they're going to release every month .

I like the surprise, but what I don't like is getting only one horrible (VC) game per week. Why don't we get two or three horrible games per week?

I haven't played R1, but from the videos I've seen of the WiiWare version, I would avoid it.

I'm not real big on tower defense games though, so it could just be me.

VC unpredictable? YES!
WiiWare? Not so much. Although this Crystal Defenders case DID catch me by surprise. BBP, Drill Sergeant and Fish 'em all were the most likely candidates and I still stand by that for next week. But it's good to have surprises (most of the time).

@ReZon: You're writing the game off just from one/two vids? Why am I not surprised anymore.

The videos are all we have to go off of right now. It does look pretty awful to me. Of course, reviews can change minds, but at the moment there's nothing else.
Plus, I just got Comet Crash on PS3 which is easily the best tower defense game (though it's somewhat a stretch to call it a pure "tower defense") I've ever played, so I can do without this.

As a Final Fantasy fan, with a deep love for the Tactics series in particular, it is of my humble opinion that Crystal Defenders is a hosed down version of a cell phone game. No thanks.

And if the Metacritic score of the Xbox Live version (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/crystaldefenders?q=crystal%20defenders) is any indicator, I don't think anyone will be missing much by skipping it.

I am eagerly waiting for MLaaD though.

They'll give us random crap tomorrow. We all know it.

Yea, Crystal Defenders looks pretty bad, but I can comfortably say this as a PS3 owner since I have more tower defense goodness than anyone could possibly need with PixelJunk Monsters and Comet Crash. If I only had a Wii though, I might be more interested in this.

Hey, I've stopped caring about the VC a long FREAKING time ago; like WAY back in 2008 when the started giving us the 1 VC release crap!!! Since then barely anything SOLID FIRST PARTY games have come out; & they seem to TRICKLE out even more SLOWLY than before! So even with SSB64 & Zelda MM kind of expected to hit NA WHENEVR FREAKING NOA FEELS LIKE IT (& stop making us WAIT SO FREAKING LONG); I won't be HOLDING MY BREATH FOR ANYTHING ELSE!!!

Because watching a game is an bad way of finding out what it's about, and likewise generating an opinion on it?

JTC-Pingas

@Party On Dude. You gotta have some faith that NOA will give us SSB64 and MM. Plus STOP using ALL CAPS all the time!

Actually, 2008 was anything but an example. If anything, the Virtual Console is going downhill.

Actually, the only title that I've ever seen a release date for is FFIV (June 1st).
