According to Nintendo's site. I don't know anything about this game (or the NES version). Is it good?

I really like the 1988 arcade version of Ninja Gaiden. It incorporates a forced scroll method to keep the player moving and a two player option for acrobatic ninja brawling. The game has decent arcade tuneage and interactive scenery in which you can swing from lampposts and kick enemies in the face, with a double-footed foot-plant. Those ninjas have quite a move set, displaying nifty skills at hanging from the background scenery and back-flipping off walls, they can pick up sword icons and slice away, but they are not quite as good at crossing the road,…. Watch the cars as they go "vroom" and "splat" at the start of Round 2 and there are motorbikes to dodge later, too!
Its gameplay has aged a bit, although the street background graphics are well detailed and nicely shaded, with fluidly animated sprites. You can also launch the baddies into the scenery, to break up signs revealing energy pills to replenish your three health bars. This is handy, as you will need all the help you can get, because the game becomes difficult. It has set checkpoints, so if you die before reaching one you will be sent all the way back to the last successful point. Note that single player cheaters can push the two player button to continue in a different colour just before player one dies, to avoid this predicament. Like many side-scrolling brawlers, it is more fun in two players.
Obviously the original arcade game has been overshadowed by the more recent series. This particularly began with the Xbox game, which is a shame, because for 1988, Tecmos's Ninja Gaiden was pretty darn fine. Below is a video of the first level:

I am passionate about retro gaming, from antiquated consoles to the continuation of classics. Obviously I love PSone, and PS2 retro games. I blast my ears to breakneck melodic punk, gruff vocals and nimble alternative guitar hooks.

I wish the USA would get the arcade ninja gaiden arcade shinobi. The vc is starting to really turn lame.

Well its very likely you'll get Street Fighter II on the TurboGrafx on Monday. Whether it'll come with another import game or not, you'll have to wait and see.

After that, well there's Arcade Shinobi, Arcade Solomon's Key, Arcade Ninja Gaiden and SNES Pilotwings to get released. Thats not too bad is it?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
