Conduit was really just a half rip off of Halo.

Story-wise maybe, but overall, I think it surpasses Halo due to the much superior controls which make for much superior gameplay, plus the Conduit tones down the violence enough to get a Teen rating. Of course, MWR for Wii, I assume, also has motion controls, but can anyone tell us if they work as well as the Conduit's controls? Being a multiplatform title, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't as good.

By the way, I like how the Conduit's online mode gives the players default weapons whenever they respawn, unlike Goldeneye's (on N64) multiplayer where you not only start off weaponless and have to find weapons, but it takes a while to even find one. I don't have Goldeneye, but I've played it with a friend a few times, and he quite often winds up killing me before I even manage to find a weapon. On the downside, the Conduit doesn't have local multiplayer or allow multiple players online from the same console. How does MWR do in these areas?

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.

Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Why does that make it better?

Because games rated Mature are too inappropriate. I bought the Conduit, but I would never buy or play Modern Warfare Reflex, because I don't play rated M games. (I'm 25, by the way) I even blocked the rating on my Wii.

Well you are missing out on a lot of games then. And if you refuse to play it, you can't really say one is better than the other.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Best way to find out is try it. But there is no need wondering if you are unwilling to play it.

I played Conduit for 3 hours and CoD Reflex for about 60 hours - and more to come .

In fact, I did lend out Conduit and it dissapointed me so much that I returned it on the same day. The presentation was VERY lacking, the control and HUD set up more marketing then usefull, the technology just okay and the multiplayer nothing more then mediocre deathmatch types. Nothing you wont find equally or better since ~1998 for PC games.

CoD:Reflex is a downgraded port from an over 2 years old game and yet still one of the best FPS and complete Wi-Fi game for the Wii.

I say Reflex, tremendously better online and the store more is longer and had more depth. I just didn't like Conduit all the way around.

You don't play M rated games.

What would you know about Modern Warfare's gameplay?

And even saying the controls are better is a bit of a stretch. They're certainly not good enough for me to choose Wii controls over dual-analog. But to say the entire game is better because of it? There's just no way. lol

I had the Conduit and now play Modern Warfare.

A short comparison:

  • The Conduit controls are a bit better, more tweaking possible. Which doesn't mean that the MW ones are bad. They are fine, just not as much customization as with the Conduit. Also playing with the Zapper is a mess. Since The Conduit doesn't have Zapper support (or am I wrong), that's not a big loss though.
  • SinglePlayer length is pretty much the same, but MW has the more intense campaign. Better level and story design make it the better experience
  • Multiplayer: Again MW is far better. Apart from the ranking system, challenges, unlockables etc. which give the Multiplayer a huge bonus, it does not have the flaws of the Conduit, such as bad net code (lag and lots of simulatnious kills) and for me the no-go argument #1: not beeing able to choose which type of game I'm going to play. That's just stupid.

It's less offensive and more people can play it. Rating is a BIG factor.

This seems like as good a place as any to ask this question:
On the Xbox, you can chat with other players while gaming. Is something like this also available on the Wii? I'm completely unfamiliar with Wii-online-gaming despite having owned one since launch. I've seen that accessory that comes with Animal Crossing (I think) and was always curious about what other applications it might have or what it would be compatible with.

@magi if you have wii speak [the thing that comes with animal crossing], then you CAN chat with other people while you play.
Anyways, Bulbasaurus, just because a game is mature, it's not bad. You can't say that conduit is better because you haven't even played either halo or CoD! My friend has Reflex, but I only got to play a little. I have the conduit, and from what I played, reflex has much better multipllayer, but I didn't play the campaign.

Just let it happen.

Oh, and I would consider Halo controls superior. Dual analog works better for FPS.You can change the layout and sensitivity on halo also.

Just let it happen.

In terms of quality? No, the rating is not a factor.

You're crazy! I've tried dual-analog controls, and they are nothing compared to Wii FPS controls! (Not to mention that the Conduit has an incredible amount of control customization options.) It may not beat keyboard and mouse, but no other console control scheme comes close for FPSes. Yes, I've haven't played Halo, but Wii FPS controls are so much superior that the Conduit and the Wii version of MWR surpass Halo just because of that.

I guess I can't say the Conduit is superior on rating alone, but if it's otherwise close, it can make a difference in which one is better. Quality is improved by not having inappropriate violence displayed. Most M games could be edited to T games without losing any quality in other areas while becoming better games by having better graphical quality.

To be fair he didn't say it's bad, just that he thinks The Conduit is better because it will have a broader appeal/audience.

I'm not really interested in playing a "real world" warfare scenario so the Call of Duty games have no appeal for me. The Conduit will continue to be the only FPS on my shelf until I get Red Steel 2. I still may pick up Metroid Prime Trilogy, but after Corruption I'm not really drawn to it.
