Just wondering which franchise you guys prefer as these 2 games were the competitors in the 90s i heard.

Im assuming most people will go Streetfighter but still wondering.

As a separate question, i was wondering if you can turn off tag teams in king of fighters 94 and just have straight one on one fights?

Hmmm. I prefer King of Fighters especially KOF 1997. I haven't played any Street Fighter games since 1999 or 2000 when I was around 5-6 years old at the time. (I didn't count X-Men vs. Street Fighter in which I played in 2007 since I consider X-Men VS. Street Fighter to be a Marvel vs. game instead.)

Heck, I always preferred King of Fighters to Street Fighter even since I was a little kid.

To answer your question, no you can't.

If you haven't played the series since you were six, I hardly think your preference counts for much, no offense. Your tastes and aptitude for gaming are bound to change, sometimes drastically, from childhood to your teens. You should give it another shot. The Alpha games, HD Remix, and SF4 are all pretty good in my book. I haven't played 3 or some of the others though.

I unfortunately have played no other King of Fighters game except for the most recent one a couple times in arcades. I quite enjoyed it, though, and I think if I had the chance to play it more I'd eventually like it about as much as Street Fighter.

Speaking of which, maybe Mark or someone else can help me here: Which King of Fighters is better, the one on VC (94) or the one on PSN (I forget which)? I've been thinking of getting one, but I don't know which to try first. I read that the Japanese PSN has a bunch more of them, too. I wish I were Japanese sometimes.

I'd love to just get the new one, but $60 is so much for a tournament fighter. I can't bring myself to get it, BlazBlue, or SF4, so I just stick to downloadable fighters which are about as fun and much, much cheaper.

I don't know much of anything about KoF, but I've always loved the Street Fighter series, from the original (well, the original SF_2_) to Hyper, Super, Alpha, and even the EX (2.75D) games. Great fun with competitive friends, mockery and all. It still brings a smile to my face to think how much it angered my undergrad roommate when I'd start saying, "come on, man, just win one already, I'm so sick of using this character."

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

Ever played Capcom vs. SNK 2?
As for the question, my answer would have to be Street Fighter. Its just much more easy to get into and enjoy. I've played every Street Fighter game and every King of Fighters game (except XII but that will change soon). Although I quite enjoyed KoF during 96, 97, 98 and 99, I do have to say my interest in the games since then has fallen with each new game or spin-off (like NGBC) except I am a fan of the Maximum Impact series - it feels the most like Street Fighter that a KoF game has become.

And you can have one-on-one fights in KoF games, just select Single Play and you only pick a single fighter and only fight against a single fighter over a few rounds each time instead of a team.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Well, I've been wanting to play the Street Fighter games for a while, but I never really got around to doing it. I might get the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on the PS2 though.

To answer your question, I'm not sure if I played KOF '99 yet so I can't answer your question exactly. However, I did play KOF '94 & it was pretty good though the CPU opponents can be somewhat ruthless. I'm pretty sure KOF '99 on the PSN is the PSX version. The PSX version is pretty good except for some missing animation frames, but not too much.

I can't answer your question exactly though. I would say get KOF '99 on the PSN though.

Thanks, I'll probably do that then, though I'm worried I'll do like I did for SF Alpha and buy it early only to have a sequel release shortly after I buy it.

Capcom Vs SNK 2 sounds good, too, especially since the Wikipedia entry compares it to Street Fighter Alpha. I didn't know what SNK was when that game came out, so I never played it before.
