Beleive me, alttp gets alot harder. It wasn't my favourite but it was fun all the same. (It did take a few tries to get into it)
And nothing beats paper mario, it's just that awesome.

Why would you need a tutorial? The game could not be any simpler, and there is an Operations Guide in the Home menu if you have problems pressing buttons and figuring out what they do on your own. And how is combat inaccurate or sloppy? Last I checked, my sword swings at the exact same place every time. There's no way for it to be inaccurate unless you are inaccurate.

If you don't like it, oh well, but these are very peculiar complaints. The game is much easier than I'd have liked, and its secrets often much too obvious -- what is the point in having secret caves if you're just going to put giant cracks on the outer wall? Might as well put a sign saying, "There is a secret here. Try the bomb." But overall the great use of color and the best video game soundtrack ever combine with a classic gameplay formula to make a most memorable game that I quite enjoy, personally.

One of the best games ever made.

And bear in mind that "first-level tutorials" weren't the norm back then. That wouldn't happen for another generation or two. Faulting it for not having one is almost like faulting it for not offering Wii Speak support or something!

How can it be a downgraded version of a game that did not exist? The logic in this thread keeps getting better and better.

My friend, you are used to newer games of today with all the boring stories and absurd long tutorials. Link to the past comes from the times when games were more arcade based: straight to the point. No need of ridiculous mini quests like "find a darn cat" or "talk with stupid kids" and so on. Just "Go, grab your sword and get to the end, if you can" It was a time when games were GAMES and not boring and stupid INTERACTIVE MOVIES of today.

I am sorry that you couldn't appreciate the beauty of simplicity that this jewel of game offers. Eh, your lose.

Lol that's what I thought. But honestly is incredible the number of gamers that think that there are not games before the Playstation era so that's not very surprising

One thing I didn't like about this game is that some things you have to figure out, but they never hint at any of it. Luckily this doesn't happen too often.

BECAUSE OF THIS I NEVER BEAT GANON!!

It's an okay game. Not the greatest game ever, but it has it's moments. Plus, like Ocarina, you can cause Cuccos to rampage. You just can't beat that!

Sigh, next thing you know people are going to start demanding that Nintendo remake A Link to the Past with a Super Guide mode.

Well, the game is fun if you like Zelda, but if you don't (which you probably don't if my guess-o-matic machine is working correctly), then you're not going to like it at all. That's just the way it is. As for my opinion, I'd rather not share it because ALTTP was my first game that I beat, and going off on another fanboy-ish rant is at the top of my "Never Do It Again" list. However, I did like the game. That's all I'm gonna say.

Troll topic, right? It has to be. No one's gaming taste could really be that awful........I hope.

The game expects you to read all of the story text and to explore the world as much as possible. I can only assume you skipped over one of the maidens telling you about the silver arrows (I think a maiden tells you -- might be Sahasrahla or whatever he's called), but you need this item to defeat Ganon. How you obtain the item is not hinted at, but it should not be hard to find. There is something very obvious at the golden temple that you are overlooking.

I found the game gave too many obvious hints. I rather the subtle hints of the original that really force you to try everything until you start to get a feel for the world's hidden logic.

Yikes! That would be scary!

Just because it is Zelda does not mean that the top-down games are the same as 3-D.

I don't hate Link to the Past. It's just not quite as polished as I was expecting. Like BuffaloBob said, the game is kind of arcade-y. Nintendo didn't spend time making a flashy intro sequence, or any tutorials, which can be a good thing. I have to admit though, I've grown up with flashy intro sequences, and other pleasantries like good graphics, so I'm probably spoiled enough not to like the game as much as I would if I had played it at the time it was released. But seriously, does the combat get any more complex as the game progresses?

If you think New Super Mario Bros. Wii is hard, try Super Mario Bros. 3.

As I said, it gets harder, and the bosses are superb. You have to use your other weapons too for your attacks to be more effective. It's never really complex, but it's like any other 2D Zelda in that respect.
