It looks far too similar to Call of Duty, I think I'll pass.

Well I decided to take the chance and buy it.

You start out with some nice cutscene footage of the area where u and the other soldiers are going to be shooting. The footage reminds me alot of Call of Duty, which is a good thing. Controls are simple: U can use just the remote, remote and nunchuk, or wii zapper. However, the game will be only using two buttons: A or a shake for reloads, and B or Z to shoot. Simple enough. Enemy AI is pretty basic, and occasionally dumb. Enemies will shoot at you from point blank but still miss? LOL. When a enemy has a exclamation mark above it's head, that's their cue to do some damage. If you get shot 3 time, you lose a life. Lose 3 lives, and the game is over. As you progress, you will start out with smaller guns on ground combat, but you can eventually unlock more powerful weapons.

As for the leaderboards... I felt RIPPED OFF. Yes, there is a local leader board system, but if ur score is high enough, the game will give you a secret code. This code is used to post your scores on the Heavy Fire official website, not through the game. Odd, yes?

For 500 points though, I got just about what I expected: A decent, but generic on rails shooter. It's not horrible at all, but it is seemingly lacking in content.

In that case, I'll pass. I prefer some kind of extra gameplay hook in my on-rails shooters. Generic ones like this are a little too boring for my tastes.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I imagine it might be fun with one of those light gun accessories, but I don't have one so I'll definitely pass for now. Thanks for the impressions irks.

Torn on this one. The fact that it's only 500 points may tip the scales in favor of picking it up.
But i still have to figure out how to get my Perfect Shot to stop making an annoying plastic-on-plastic squeak with each trigger pull without messing it up or using WD-40, which wouldn't be too good for the Wiimote i'd imagine.

The Shpydarloggery
She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

Interesting, the first Rayman Raving Rabbids game did the same thing with an online leader board.
It would give you some odd numbered/lettered code to write down, and then enter it on the official site.
I did it many times in RRR, so I got used to it.

Are the controls in the game fluid though? Like the cursor movement? All the videos made it look really laggy.

The pointer was surprisingly accurate. There would be about 5 or more enemies that appear, but you can shoot them down in less than 3 seconds because the pointer was so accurate.

@Coffee: Precisely! I got used to it too. I wish it had a Wi-Fi Leaderboard now, though. Some of my records seem really good and it's not like I can check the codes of those scores anymore.

Considering how many people don't bother with online features at all or even try to work around using them, it makes me wonder how much it possibly costs or the red tape surrounding the addition of online for a Nintendo game.
I mean if it was easy to add, people would add it if the App store is any indication, you see leadboards for games that shouldn't even have them...So why do devs almost intentionally avoid doing any online for their games with Nintendo's digital system.....HMMMMM indeed! I think this may be more than the "devs are being lazy" excuse, I think a major part of the blame might have to be directed at Nintendo...SHOCK I know. lol Nintendo always gets online right.

Also it's 5 bucks, what do you people really expect? lol And the whole "Oh dur it's an on rails game. Not gonna bother" is getting tired because those same people more than likely want Sin & Punishment which is overpriced and on rails with minor mobility.

Yep, it's true. It likely rests more with Nintendo, not with the developers.
