Topic: Good Hunting Games for Wii?

My dad has been looking for a good hunting game for Wii for a while because he likes that type of game but we can't find any games of that genre that have good reviews. I was wondering if the wise gamers here knew of any that are worth buying?

I'm looking for an animal hunting game more like the Cabela's series, not a Monster Hunter style game. Monster Hunter Tri looks fun but I don't think Dad would really like it much. It doesn't have to be a 10 out of 10 as long as it doesn't stink.

Thank you!

The Cabela games arent that bad (even though my Dad and I used to play the PS2 ones and loved them ), but the ones on the Wii will pretty much seal the deal. Does he like fishing games? There's a lot of those on Wii as well.

Thanks. Glad to have a real person say they enjoyed them. IGN was saying that most of them are rather average and I never know what to think of IGN reviews. I often don't agree with them and Dad almost never does but NintendoLife doesn't have reviews for those games. Any particular titles you would recommend? I'll look around.

I'm not sure if he would like fishing games. I think he prefers fishing in real life. I think he's probably fine with Animal Crossing. He plays a weird mix of casual/mainstream games. Wii Sports Resort, Galaxy 1, Bowser's Inside Story, Paper Mario, Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, Skyward Sword, it's nice to have some family members who will play Brawl with you so you can have multiplayer without the laggy online.

Dont really listen to anyone's reviews. Gameinfromer, GameSpot, they're all the same when it comes to hunting simulations. Abd I can't really recommend any of Wii (hence the fact I haven't played them, yet) but I have played them on PS2. Cabela's Big Game Hunter on the Wii accroding to my link not only is $14.99 but it's user review average is 8.4 and bad in the day when we didnt have internet sources like Gamestop, it was more of a shot in the dark. To be honest I don't think I ever played a "bad" Cabela game. They weren't 10/10s or recommended but for what they're worth they're very fun. Your kind of making me want to go hunt the PS2 versions down

It's always nice to play with family. No matter the game. lol

Oh, never mind.

In all honesty, Monster Hunter is the only hunting game I know of, surprisingly. And don't flat-out go by what reviews say. A lot of reviewers on IGN, Gamespot etc. are a bit biased or unfair a surprising amount of times. Check a few game screenshots, the layout etc. and see what you like.

I'm going to be honest, I thought this was about a Good Will Hunting game.

A hunting game I would actually buy! (Kidding, I suck at them, but I'm partial to Monster Hunter).

Digital or no, hunting games upset me. The 'sport' itself is horrific to me though, so that's probably why.

I'd recommend checking youtube for reviews. I find myself going there more and more often for the final word on games, maybe because some professional reviewers seem to be a little too full of themselves to accurately review anything (not here...several other places, especially a certain place that gave Skyward Sword a 7.5...). My favorite Wii reviewers are Knightwing, Wiiviewr, Frequenczy, and InecomCompany. Wiiviewr has reviewed several non-Cabela hunting games if you're interested, and Frequenczy reviewed a Cabela here:

They provide plenty of footage and generally a much more indifferent conclusion in their videos (though beware the occasional corny joke or two).
