Listen guys - we all know that Nintendo doesn't advertise anything for their consoles. Well, anything that isn't casual, cheaply made, or done on the cheap - stuff like Brain Age doesn't need the same budget as Halo 3, after all. So without any awareness for third party games, a lot of stuff...well, dies at retail. And because of this, prices go down for Wii games, and they go down fast. Which is good for us gamers because, before you know it, that interesting sounding game you heard about drops from 50 bucks to 30 or less - for brand new!

I recently picked up TMNT: Smash Up on Amazon for 9 bucks NEW (13 with shipping). 9 BUCKS! I heard mediocre things about it - it's Smash Bros. Brawl, but not as good - at the time of it's release. But for 9 bucks I couldn't pass it up, and guys? I've been having a blast!

(Amazon does this weird thing where they advertise a higher price outwardly, but just look at the "new" and "used" prices right under it - they're usually significantly less)

I've also picked up Spectobes Origins for Wii on Amazon too - which they have for like 6 bucks! It's got loads of content, nice production values, some cool uses for the Wii remote - it's definitely a game worth picking up if you're into action RPG's.

Has anyone else hunted down some awesome Wii deals? Re-discovered some Wii games that came out awhile ago, but you only bought out recently because of a price drop? With a little bit of down-time now before Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Other M strike, I say it's time to rediscover some gems!

That, or go play Monster Hunter 3. Haven't decided on that one yet...

While Spyborgs is a very average brawler, it's pretty cheap everywhere now. Newegg is selling it for $6.99. I rented it when it first came out, and I actually had some fun with it, but I haven't bothered to buy it because it's one of those games that causes the rest of the family to leave the living room. I prefer games that bring the family together, the way Mario and even Zelda can do. If you like shooting zombies on rails, House of the Dead 2 & 3 is available for $12.99 from Newegg.

First, this really depends on where you are located. Pricing and availability can be very different in other countries -- maybe the thread title should be changed to indicate where the deal is for?

Currently I haven't seen any huge deals in Canada, but they tend to come and go very often. Just a week ago I purchased TMNT Smash-Up and Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage for $10 each - both pretty solid deals. Keep your eyes open, and it's not hard to build a strong library of games without ever spending more than $20 on a single title.

A couple of sites that are good for hunting down best prices are:

I've also got a lot of cheap games from eBay. There's lots to be had for under £5 if you're prepared to stake out enough auctions.

I know it doesn't do people that aren't here any good, but in Ft. Smith we have a lot of used game stores (that aren't just Gamestop) and they've been getting a lot of new games and selling them pretty cheap (although for some reason they want $40 for CID used). Big Lot's sells games and always has them marked down to something like $9 for Wii/PS2 and $5 for DS.

I'm pretty sure Zack & Wiki(which was amazing)Elebits and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz are going for cheap off eBay brand new.

Excitebots: Trick Racing is cheapest at GameStop in the the US. It's $19.99 new, where everyone else is charging about $30 or more.

Excitebots Trick Racing is fantastic, but I don't think it's underrated. I believe it got good reviews. Just not enough people bought it, which is a shame, as its super fun and has fantastic online play. Betting on your races is awesome.

SuperToad

I haven't played it but some people swear on Crystal Bearers.

Phantom Brave: We Meet Again. A good purchase for $20 new at GameStop?
That is considering "we" never met on the PS2.

Phantom Brave is great.

Opoona and the Sam & Max games are also awesome cheap games.

if you still haven't picked up MadWorld, it's always the time.. it doesn't get any cheaper (or does it) than $6. Such an amazing game (I truly love it), such a strange price.

And of course Resident Evil 4....

I've quickly amassed a quite large game library by picking up Wii/ Gamecube games used or marked down. Links crossbow for $3.00! Excitebots is much better than Excitetruck, and is usually under $20. Zack and Wiki usually goes for $10-15. House of the dead titles for about $15 apiece. Dead space extraction and Madworld are both good and cheap. Mercury meltdown was $10, as was RE4 Wii edition, Okami is around ten bones, Spyborgs was ten dollars, as was Cursed Mountain, both well worth the cash. I've seen Boom blox on the cheap, and it is quite good.

@Vinsanity You really should say "Nintendo of America", or wherever you're from. I'm assuming you're american since you linked us to Amazon's US website.

In Japan, you can't go a day without seeing an advert on TV for New Super Mario Brothers Wii (with the band Arashi, not my style of music, but oh well...), or Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2. I remember around October of last year, Monster Hunter 3 had one of the biggest ad campains i've ever seen for anything. Also anything Pokemon gets advertized intensly. Tomodachi Collection, Wii Fit, and Wii Sports Resort.

Of course they don't advertise smaller games on TV so much. That's what the internets are for i think. Though i think Japan spends a lot of money to advertise within Japan, and they know that word of mouth is a tactic that is more useful in other regions. I think there's logic to that, since sometimes movies can make a lot of money based on that.

Of course, here they advertise on cell phone updates too, which is something i've seen a lot. Its how i get my weather forecast and me and my BF use it for restaurant coupons and the nightly TV schedule.
