thank you genesis for giving me these great games: streets of rage, golden axe, m.u.s.h.a, the port of Aero Blasters....and of course sonic 2! i look forward to playing you for another 20 years! god, so many great games. i wish Sega still was as powerful of a name but who knows.... I've witnessed crazier comebacks..
@Blaze i miss good Rare games so much. That new banjo and kazooie game was great but damn, Grabbed By The Gholies and Viva Pinata or whatever... total crap fests. i remember reading something about Rare's downfall being a combination of losing key staff members and a unproductive work place provided by Microsoft or something. The funny thing is they kind of poke fun at the fact they have released some crappy games in the last few years in the before mentioned B&K game.who knows maybe its just a really long dry spell? At least they are aware they haven't been up to par unlike sega who just seems freaking oblivious (especially team sonic WTF?!)
Ghouls n' Ghosts was their first killer game, though.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles was the best game IMO, with Streets of Rage 2 and Shinobi 3 as 2 of my other favorites, I owned every sega console from Master System 2 to Dreamcast, Sega used to be one of the greatest games companies on the planet, rather than publisher of mediocre underwhelming titles its famous for today, in terms of biggest loss of direction Sega is tied with Rare both are a far cry from their glory days.
I agree with you completely and also owned all the Sega consoles.
I definatley think there should be some special treatment. Maybe a month of reviews like the game boy is receiving or a special feature including the best/strangest/rarest games. I'd be up for helping review games for the site! Seeing as i'm a journalist in the UK and still have a collection of games.
If I had time, and had enough preparation, I would gladly do a special, but we've just done the GameBoy special so I think most of the other writers are kind of "specialed-out". I don't blame them!
I wish we had time right now to do a special, but as James said, it's taken everything we've got to do this Game Boy special. But Happy Birthday Mega Drive! You were/are a phenomenal system.

I used to own a mega drive but i own the mega drive 2 and i dont have much games for it. anyway Sega Mega Drive games ill like to see on VC After burner 2 and super Hang-On. those were my favourite games back then

WRONG! Sega Mega Drive will actually be 21 years old since it was released in 1988 in Japan.
Yes but this topic says "Genesis" and since it was only called the Genesis in North America, and the release date was August 14, 1989, the Genesis is in fact 20 years old tomorrow. So it's RIGHT!

I didn't have a Genesis as a kid, I had an SNES. I was also almost unaware of the system's existence. I managed to acquire the Sega Genesis Collection for PS2.
