It's actually not that bad, though I found it a bit monotonous. Graphics look nice and it has two more modes than the iPhone version one of which is the only one I consider worth putting serious time into: Wave Attack.
Yeah, this got pointed out to me by one of the admins. My review is good to go, but awaiting screenshots of the WiiWare version. I don't actually have the iPhone version; I just watched a review on YouTube that apparently pre-dates the addition of these modes.
I don't have the Wii version, but I do have the DSiWare version and the Playstation Network version, and I can say this - the game is far better on handhelds. It's just too simple for a TV console game, but for wasting time while traveling, it's a great pick-up-and-play game. So if you have an iPhone, DSi or PSP, I recommend putting the game on those first.
Is there any thing this game has over the other multitude of "twin stick shooters"? I always prefer just going back to Robotron or SmashTV. Especially Robotron.
No, in fact if you read my review you'll note that the biggest problem for me was unchanging stages (you pick one of three backgrounds and stick with it) and lack of boss fights (Dracula pops up amidst the crowd periodically, but it's no big deal).
I prefer Robotron or Smash TV, though I do enjoy the Wave Attack mode in this game - whether or not that justifies a 1000 Point download is something only you can answer. I like the pseudo RPG aspect of Wave Attack where you're earning money to buy weapons and ammo rather than just having them get randomly dropped by enemies: it helps keep the game interesting and introduces a strategic component which is missing from the other modes.
Hmmm. The Wave Attack mode does sound cool -- and could give a little something extra to the "enjoyability" (for lack of a better term) of the gameplay.
I suppose i'll keep this on my short list and pick it up when i next get an urge to play this style shooter.
