Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else plays Excite Truck with the Wii Wheel? The game came out before the Wii Wheel but I found it works pretty well. What are your thoughts?

I totally agree, in fact I would say the game controls much better with the wheel than without. I picked Excite Truck up for a bargain price not so long ago, and was pleasantly surprised. I certainly find it to be one of the more underrated racers on the Wii.

I use it from time to time but the control scheme wasn't made for it unlike for Excitebots.

Yeah, I didn't believe it would work well at first but it's awesome. It really adds to the feel of the game.

The Wiil is just a shell, so it can be used with any game where you steer as if driving.

Definitely a good idea. I use it for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing also.

This is just like using the Zapper for RE4: Wii Edition(which works better than I expected), but yes I use the Wii wheel for any racer.

I originally thought the Wii Wheel was a big waste of time, but having used one with Excite Bots I've changed my tune. I'm a bit surprised it would work well with Excite Truck to be honest.

Now if only Nintendo would get some sense and release Excite Bots in Europe, ah well, guess I'll have to get Need for Speed then!

It doesn´t work that well with Pixars Cars. In Cars you steer with wiimote buttons facing up. My sons friends love that game for whatever reason???

I like the Wii Wheel and, yes, I ALWAYS use it for Excite Truck or indeed any racer that it is compatible with. Proper wii wheel style motion controls are a must for any Wii racer for me.

In Excite Truck I find it works well. In some demonstrations of excite truck, the show players holding the mote with the buttons up, but you obviously don't have to.

It also works well for Need for Speed generally speaking.

I only play ExciteTruck with the Wii Wheel, and it works great, especially considering it was made before the wheel came out. A totally underated game.

Excite Truck isn't made for the Wii Wheel!
You have to hold the Wiimote with the buttons up when playing Excite Truck.
It looks retarded holding the Wii Wheel like a plate, balancing the wheel instead of turning it like a normal human would do.

And trying to use the Wiimote/Wii Wheel like a real wheel (like in Mario Kart Wii) results in your Excite Truck's front wheels always rise in the air. It's just bad when jumping and landing and driving.

I absolutely love Excite Truck, but using the Wii Wheel on this is awkward to the point of unplayability. I tested this.

Also, didn't the original Wii trailer with the games on it show a guy playing it with a wheel thing originally? I saw it somewhere, along with the drum video, and showing how we would pull back on the nunchuck to mimc a bowstring. I think this was like the first Revolution video or something...

Uh, I use the Wiil like you do in Mario Kart for Excite Truck. It's fine.

Where is the fun when landing after a jump on your rear wheels and never get a perfect landing boost?
How can you gather up speed in the air when you're jumping in the most un-aerodynamic way?
How can you even control your car perfectly when holding the Wiimote wrong?

Where is logic in using a steering wheel, when all you do with it is balancing and tilting it instead of turning it like you normally would do with a real steering wheel?

I suppose if you don't know how to use a real steering wheel, then yes it's fine.
I assure you, if you want to have a chance against me in Excite Truck throw away the damn Wii Wheel. Only use it for Mario Kart if you must.

I know it's only a shell, but I much prefer Excitebots with it. Mario kart I like the gamecube controller, Sonic and Sega gets the classic controller nod. I bought Excitetruck about a week ago and it just feels "loose", though I've only unlocked 2 trucks.
