I enjoyed Swords & Soldiers much more than Dark Lord (which I haven't finished yet, but I'm pretty close). S&S isn't as deep as Dark Lord is, but it's just so much more fun, and it has more content with it's multiplayer (split screen only if you didn't know) and skirmish mode. There are achievements as well as some other game modes rewarded to you after completing certain campaigns and they're pretty fun (and difficult) as well.
S&S Pros: Funny dialogue Skirmish mode Easier to understand Varying and balanced civilizations Fun unlockables Cons: Somewhat short (all 3 campaigns can run you about 10 hours, but that's assuming you win every match the first time)
Dark Lord Pros: Incredibly deep Great design Interesting spin on Tower Defense Cons: Story is just meh It's mostly just testing out a set up and trying a different one once it fails (which will happen a lot)
Both are great games. Choosing between the both is a really tough choice. If at all possible, get both at one point or another but if you're wondering which to get first, get S&S since FFCC: Darklord is a deeper experience.
Swords and Soldiers. Its about to fall off the chart in NA, and if you want more from Romino then you should totaly buy. Plus, with your next card you can get Darklord as well as additional DLC.
Hey thanks for all the replies guys (and hello SKTTR, my old friend)! I decided on Swords & Soldiers and played about forty minutes into it. I'm on level 10 of the Viking campaign now. Pretty fun stuff. _
Next points card I'll be getting My Life As A Dark Lord and all four DLC's for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years... Unless something really awesome comes out and throws this plan off course.
