Anyone got one yet?

I'm going to order one on Monday.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I wish I could but I don't live in Europe or Japan. I still haven't even gotton around to buying a normal Classic Controller yet.

Oh you should. The Classic Controller really improves your enjoyment of playing VC games. I never play SNES games using a Gamecube controller; the layout is just too awkward to use with that.

I suppose if you import a Classic Controller Pro from Europe it should work on your American Wii. But it is definitely worth investing in a regular Classic Controller.

I was going to get one last year along with a points card whenever SMRPG was getting ready to come out, but I got impatient and just found one at a used game store for $30. I didn't wanna spend 40 bucks anyways at the time. The hiliarious thing though was when SMRPG came to the VC two days after I got the SNES version. I'll need to get one soon though.

I don't like the look of the Pro one bit, from what I've seen and read. I'll stick to the classic Classic.

They need a contoller with turbo buttons. It would enhance the gameplay on TG-16 titles.

I got one a few weeks ago. I don't use the regular classic any more because I'm not keen on the springy shoulder buttons. The handles improve the comfort and they're a must for dual-stick games, but damn if I don't understand the decision to make the Z buttons the lower shoulder buttons. Really crap when using the Classic Linker + to play classic Midway games in 'cube mode.

Hm? Did you say that you can play gamecube games using them?

I peronally like the original one. It has that classic SNES vibe. The Pro just looks too PSX like for me. Damn me being a classic Ninty fanboy.

at first i had some complaints about the designation of the trigger buttons and distant placement of + and , but after a while of use i've gotten used to everything i can almost say i wouldn't have it any other way at this point. it really is a great controller for VC games or any new 2D games in general. it still sucks hard for N64, so don't expect that to change, and i also don't know of a single 3D wii game which it's performed well for, so it's best to keep one of these as well as a gamecube pad if you want to have the best control for each game.

i don't understand how you can dislike the look of the pro. of course adding handles to an snes-style controller will make it look like the dual shock; that's how the playstation controller was born! besides, the pro looks better. i tried holding it and comparing it with a dual shock 3 and it also feels much more comfortable, both in the handles and button placement.

edit: my "minus" is out of control! abandon ship!

I've always hated the entire Dual Shock series of controllers, so the more SNES-oriented look was a big bonus for the original classic controller. There are so few N64 games available on the VC anyway (and I don't use the CC on any retail Wii games) that the clean retro feel is the most important feature, and the analog sticks on the original CC perform perfectly fine for me when needed.

you love the CC but hate the DuelShock there almost the same thing

Er, no, I love the simple SNES controller for retro gaming, and the Dual Shock is simply the SNES with the worst D-pad I've ever used, extra superfluous shoulder buttons, and a much more awkward shape -- plus analog of course. The Classic Controller is also an analog-enabled SNES controller, but with far less flaws and overall awkwardness, as it remains closer to the SNES design.

So, the Pro is a step in the wrong direction; particularly, as previous noted, because there are so few VC games where you'll be using analog anyhow, so a cleaner retro feel is desirable more than trying to mimic recent bulky gamepad designs.

My preference (as I've already said multiple times)

NES/SMS/TG16- remote
SNES/Genesis- classic controller
N64- Gamecube controller

I have no interest in the Classic Controller Pro because its grips ruin the nostalgic feel of the flatbottom SNES controller.

the pro is cleaner by far. the controller is a little wider with more open spacing between the left and right hands. it feels a lot less cluttered when reaching in to press + and - (once you adjust to the farther reach) or when you use the joysticks. the overall access to the buttons and d pad just feels much better because of the angle at which you hold the grips. it also fixed those ridiculously placed z buttons on the original by stacking them on top of each other sony style, which, like it or not, makes them way easier to press than they were before (i still have yet to find a single game that even uses them). all the same buttons are there, just better placed, so you can't really say the pro is more complicated.

i understand that for the sake of nostalgia while playing your favorite old games you should also have the same controller, but the classic controller is not an SNES pad. it's an amalgamation snes and n64 controllers. since the vintage accuracy is already pretty low, you may as well trade that small amount of classic feel for a controller that generally functions better in every way. if you're dead set on the snes style, get one of those cool wii replicas or an adapter that will let you use an actual snes controller.

i grew up playing super nintendo; it's my favorite system ever. but even i think the pro is more comfortable for playing snes games than the snes controller itself was. if you try each controller one after the other for a few hours, you'll see that there's a reason handles have become standard...

The handles (and the extra row of shoulder buttons, which as you say are never used) just make it look way too bulky to me, when all I want out of the Classic controller is something small, clean, and good for the VC. I actually prefer just the sideways Wii remote when at all possible, but a relatively small SNES-like controller is the next best thing. It's really more a matter of aesthetics than you might believe; I'm very picky about that sort of thing, particularly when having friends or females come over and getting them to play some classic game with me. There's something nice about not breaking out the huge gamepads and instead handing them something that instantly calls to mind a cleaner, less button-overloaded era of gaming. And on the few N64 titles I own, I haven't had any difficulty using the sticks.

All that being said, I take your point that the handles and new design must be filling a real demand, or Nintendo wouldn't have created it, and I've seen plenty of reviewers who do love the new feel. I just don't believe this one is for me.

Yes, if you plug it into a Classic Linker Plus (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-g4-49-en-15-classic+linker+plus-70-3cep.html) and connect that to your Gamecube controller port. I wouldn't do it for original Gamecube games, but it works fine for classics on the Midway Arcade Treasures Collection and with the Metal Slug Anthology.

Turbo buttons are already supported on TG16. A/B on the Wii remote or x/y on the Classic Controller.
SMS also supports rapid-fire somehow.
(I think that is because rapid-fire was an official feature of both systems. It was on the standard TG16 controllers and built-in to Japanese "Master System" consoles.)
