Is it worth it to get Cave Story on WiiWare even if I already own the free PC version?

Yes! The Wiiware version has new graphics and music plus many extra features not found in the PC version.
If you prefer the original graphics and music that's available too. Think of it as Cave story special edition.

It's not quite as good as RUNNER but the Wii version is still a 10/10 and superior enough to the PC one to warrant the $12 purchase.

I think I'd have to say maybe, as it really depends. I can't stand keyboard controls and don't own a gamepad, and like to have all the games I play conveniently at one place, my Wii. Otherwise you're paying $12 for a game you've already played. The extra modes are hardly worth it, with merely a time attack of the hardest area in the game(how fun) and a boss attack mode, and the updated graphics and music aren't worth $12 either.

I didn't forget it. Isn't it just a play through of the game as Curly though? I haven't actually checked it out yet, but if that's all it is, then I don't think it much a mode, instead a play through as a different sprite.

I held up playing Cave Story for two years just because I didn't want to spoil the WiiWare release for myself.

I personally found the WiiWare version to be not unique enough to warrant the $12, but as it's already shown, I'm not talking for the entire internet. Really depends on if the extra things make your day.

not to come off as rude, but this question has been asked and answered like a hundred times in the main thread. my opinion is that the wii version is much better, to the point where i couldn't go back to the PC if i wanted. keyboards suck, and the old visuals don't look very good anymore after seeing the new 16 bit upgrade. those improvements are worth $12.

runner's great and all, but it's the same thing over and over for 30 levels. cave story's a much fuller and deeper experience, what with the rabbits and the lasers.
