Well, I knew it was gonna happen, but that didn't soften the blow. I should be playing Metroid, but now I need to go back to town and get a lens cleaner thing. I've already sent it to Nintendo to fix this very same problem, what exactly did they fix ffs, did I really send it back just to get the lens cleaned, because at the time they told me it was to do with some gunk/glue left over from production. I am, once again, disappointed. They knew some of us had this problem and could have quite easily burnt 2/3 normal discs. Instead, I shall go and pay for something I don't even know will work. Woot!
Machu you should try the disc cleaner i couldn't play brawl before but after i used it my brawl works again you have to use it constantly though not like every time you put the game in just atleast once a week to prevent any extra dust or dirt getting on that lens trust me its worth paying for the Lens and i hope everything works out for you my man

No joy after 3 cleans. Gonna get inside it tomorrow and have a look. I'd send it off again but I did that last year for Brawl, whilst that worked I'm now back where I started. I am seriously considering buying a new one tbh (when i can afford it) and keep the crappy one for VC/WW if all else fails. I'm now playing Endless Ocean, it's keeping me calm (vegetative), before booze and NMH later.
I hope to report back with good news over the weekend. But thanks pixeldude and tails.
i have like completely old/used/transported gen 1 wii (launch day), loads slower than other people's makes awful louder-than-thers'-Wiis disc-loading noises and generally has all the problems a Wii can have but still function, yet it loves dual-layer discs.
What gives? You'd think I'd be in this same problematic boat, but MP:T actually loads prime 3 better than my MP3-only disc, not to mention working (as does SSBB)
EDIT: @ Machu - can't you hit Ninty up and have them transfer your data to a new Wii? I know Microsoft does it with 360 stuff when needed, or rather I've heard stories of people getting them to help after a rather troublesome phone call. Or you can wait for the Wii Plus, which will have a 45 kilobyte attached hard-drive, a .1 megapixel camera, a free Nintendo game, and a $299 pricetag.
Well this isn't as painful as the Brawl 'disc read error', I hadn't played that, so was uber hyped and equally disappointed. Saturday + Tri-Wing + Can o' air = i hope
