Topic: Wii U update up in NA.

Personally, I was little bit surprised off TV play for Wii games on Wii U wasn't available from the beginning.

Wait...how? How am I supposed to play a game designed with the pointer in mind on a touch pad?

Nintendo should patch the gamepad to work as a classic controller for my Wii VC games... that'd be nice. Love my Wii within a Wii U.

What does that mean? Free software automatically downloaded?

This goes hand in hand with my previous comment. I would have thought that would have been an option.

Completely agree with that. If I can't use the GamePad as a Controller then why is it a big deal? Stand it up somewhere and play using a different controller? Why would I do that instead of using my one of my other TVs or even my Computer Monitor?

Hopefully next update...sigh I hope they really do it. Just for my VC titles I don`t want a Wii Gamepad Pro, though I might get a Wii U one..maybe they can patch those too.

Now you can play Wii games in a little tiny portable screen. Won't be a life changer, but. I can see it being useful in certain occasions.

Yeah, certainly sounds like it'd be one of several steps forward, at least I hope it is. Either way, it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Correct. Also people wanting Wii VC games to use the GamePad, that could destroy Nintendo's business of "upgrading" Wii VC titles.

not quite, since you still require Wiimotes.

Too bad you can't use the pad itself as a controller, but still, being able to play Wii games using just the pad as a screen is very nice. I turned on my Wii U to get the update ready, but it has already started. Of course the Internet on it has been shut off till half an hour passes for it to download. Oh well, I still have the computer to use while I wait

Thaks to everybody who has been updating on the update, I dont think there is anything here I ever would have noticed on my own.

So it finished and asked me to restart. Powered off and on, then a real quick install, then a very slow Updating... that might take nearly as long as the DL. Better than a bricked system I suppose.

Anybody up and running yet! Typing from my 7" tablet. It looks and feels the same size and shape, but typing and web browsing is so much better. I recommend Dolphin web browser to anyone running Android.

Ahhh man I don't have a Wii U, but I can't for 3ds to upgrade!!
