Topic: Why is the Wii U's stylus traditional?

The Wii U's screen doesn't NEED a stylus (as in, it'll work with your fingers). A stylus just provides more precision.
Why couldn't they have used a resistive multi-touch screen though? It's the best of both worlds.

If the 3DS has not been discontinued SM3DL and MK7 are awesome games, but if the 3DS has been discontinued Sony has taken over the world. It is not true that both Sony has taken over the world and SM3DL and MK7 are not awesome games. Therefore:Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are...

I think the Wii U stylus is normal because they can. The 3DS stylus is telescopic because there's only so much space for the stylus to go into. The Wii U controller is that much bigger and has that much more space for a bigger stylus to go.

And I'm afraid at @James is only half right. A 6.2" capacitive screen wouldn't be that expensive, but a good one would be. As the owner of a cheap 7" tablet, I can tell you that a bad capacitive screen is really not what you want. I'm glad they've gone down the resistive route.

I go by Lin1876 everywhere in games, so keep an eye out for me!

I expect a sensational new stylus to be revealed at E3. Heard it here first.

HA! the revolution is starting NOW!.

In other news, I am so used to the incredibly accurate touch of my ipad and iphone - especially compared to the usual touchscreen - I just hope nintendo can pull an equal ease of use off... I mean, we don't have extra hands lying around to replace our fingers with a clumsy stylus, do we?

I'd rather use a stylus than my fingers, I feel more precise (maybe because I'm an artist that mainly uses pencils and such) but that's just me. But heck, if the touch screen is sensitive and precise enough for me to do a drawing similar to the Link art we were shown on the Wii U demo then I'm good :3

To be honest, I use my fingers quite a bit on my DSi and 3DS anyway. I find the precision of using a small stylus or my fingernails as opposed to having to use my actual fingers all the time much easier to deal with than my iDevices, which can be hit-or-miss in terms of registering what buttons i'm tapping or where.

That said, the 3DS stylus sucks. I don't like the way it telescopes, and i'm more likely tol bust out one of my spare DSi styluses if i've got something pinpoint-accurate that needs doing. :3

@Mickeymac: my 3DS stylus is a bit wobbly in the center (in the area of the telescoping joint) when extended, and i'm not a fan of how weak it feels in comparison with the nice solid DS/i styluses. i remember i had the same problem with my black 3DS as well, so i'd assume this isn't an isolated issue. I'd use it un-telescoped, but it's too short for my hand. if it wasn't for the telescoping, it'd probably be all right.
