As for Sony's account system, for their portables they actually do allow for a PSN account to be active on 2 systems at once. So that can be a PSP and Vita, or 2 PSPs or 2 Vitas.
When it comes to piracy, hackers have had a ball with the PSP, while the Vita still hasn't been broken apart by them. Piracy, from what I can tell, has more to do with the infrastructure of the system than the When it comes to the digital policies, how many people probably do abuse the account thing? I'd guess very few, and in exchange for the few who abuse you have an environment in which people are more likely to purchase digitally since they don't have to worry about not having access to their games if their system breaks.

Since I don't have any other consoles anyone would care to explain how does it work in the 360 and PS3 and how they manage to prevent piracy without linking games to the physical console?

They don't. There is no way to prevent abuse like that. Even tracking online to see if you're logged in at the same time can be avoided carefully. You simply make a new account active (your friend's) and later re-activate the account on the previous device, thus giving the digital games to your friends for free, and then back to you. Prevents a whole lot of downloads.

Abuse of the account is the only reason Nintendo is having its policy, so yes, it is a big deal for them. I can't see the number of people not buying digitally because of being tied to the console as anything more than very small and negligible. Most are probably not even aware of it unless they try to abuse it.

I have all my things backed up in my computer... So if anything happens to my 3DS my games will still be there. I mean, I won't be able to redownload them but at least I'll have them.

Even if you back them up on your computer you wont just be able to play it on any 3DS or Wii U.

That is, unless you manage to get Nintendo to give the rights to the new console.

so if Sony and Microsoft can offer account based systems and don't have major issues with people downloading their games on their friends consoles and leaving them there for them to play, why can't Nintendo do the same thing? I think Nintendo policy of tying digital games to the console itself is unnaceptable

If Nintendo's consoles RROD'd on a daily basis then it would indeed be unacceptable.

I can only compare this iTunes, because I dont play PS360.

Nintendo says we cant have an account system because they cant stop that account being used on several different consoles. But with iTunes you can save your library on, what is it, six devices and no more. Apple seem to have worked out the tech. Why hasn't Nintendo?

Apple is much bigger than Nintendo, and Apple suffered tremendously from piracy and abuse and seems to accept it at some level - maybe because it's so big it can live with it. This is probably true for Microsoft too, definitely Google, and to a certain extent (not market cap) also true for Sony.
Nintendo suffered a lot because of piracy and tries to fight it. Misguided maybe but the underlying problem exists.

I think it should be the opposite if you are a powerful company you can try to get away with anti-consumer policies, but if you are an underdog the first thing you should try is to at least be consumer friendly

So people have told me that your online purchases are not linked to your online account? So what happened if my console gets destroyed or something? It's just all gone??

If your WII U is damaged or stolen you can get a new one with your digital games as long as you can send them the machine (If damaged) or receipts (console not games) and crime report (if stolen). If you can't do either of these things you won't get your games back.

You have any support for this, a few months ago Nintendo life published an article explaining that Nintendo won't give your games back if you can't send the console to them even with a police report... Maybe they have changed their policy though but I haven';t heard anything
