Nintendo tends to do that or so I noticed. They announce something and keep quiet about it for a while if it's not near release date and then they talk about it more when it's actually near the release date. Kinda just like X. All we got were two trailers and that was it; they haven't really discussed anything else since it's not coming out this year. Maybe they just like to be secretive about everything so that it would be a huge surprise to everyone else later/nearer to its release?
As said above, It's like X. Building hype through fan speculation.
X has had more trailers and stuff though, hopefully SEGA's acquisition of Atlus won't affect the development of this title.

I doubt they'll do anything, more then likely they'll just sit on it. I really don't know why Sega bothered. They probably aren't going to make many things multiplats, as a lot of Atlus titles couldn't even happen on anything but Nintendo systems. Plus Sega and Nintendo are like best friends right now, so that's a good sign.
X is still being mentioned whenever Nintendo brings up their 2014 plans. We've seen nothing from SMT x Fire Emblem since January and even then we had no gameplay footage.
The thing probably hasn't even started development yet,
1. How could the trailer have the words "title in development" if it wasn't in development?
2. Intelligent Systems has nothing (known) on the horizon other than this, so why wouldn't they have started developing it?
I'm pretty sure they're far enough in development so they can show footage in the near future.

You don't know why Sega bothered? Atlus has a (relatively speaking) huge cult following and a little brand name appeal. Atlus = potential profits.
wasn't it a cross with SMT or something? the Atlus instability may have put things on hold until Sega took control, so maybe we'll start seeing some more about it once things settle down and get into their new groove :3

It takes years to make a game like this. It was announced as a 2014 title 4 months ago. Chill out and quit making these wheres Zelda wheres fire emblem threads.
