To be honest I think Ubisoft is my favorite in the small grouping of very large game developers / publishers (well besides Nintendo). I also think their portfolio and franchises best molds with the big N, more so than the EA or Activision's of the world.
If anything I applaud Ubisoft for taking chances with games like Child of Light, Rayman, Valiant Hearts, etc., to name a few.
Oh well. They tried. Guess it didn't work out. Same thing happened with Capcom 2 generations in a row. Now look at them. Are they even at E3?
Aren't capcoms problems mostly due to the fact
They massively mid mange the IP they have
Decided to throw most of their development resources to mobile and free to play.
Cheaply outsource their games to D their developers
Nit following industry trends that make money while following the failing ones.
Not localizing games and wasting money on expensive engine technology that's just paying off or has just been fazed off.
So mostly what's been affecting the japense industry as a whole.
Also capcom was the biggest supporter of the GameCube at the time. They even started out last generation strong. Just somewhere in between they lost a lot of their talent.
@shingi_70
I agree, except for the talent part. I think part of the problem, is that they've gotten used to the tech in 7th gen platforms, so they can't really improve any of the gameplay mechanics that much, anymore. RE6 had a ton of gameplay mechanics, but none of them really worked all that well. They keep releasing Street Fighter IV.
As always, lots of games are over the top, and I find it annoying. The only games I see Capcom doing well with, is Monster Hunter, maybe RE, and they need to not release SFV all 8th gen.
Can't believe people would actually be happy about this. Ubisoft put out the 2nd highest rated game (metacritic) on Wii U last year with Rayman and the highest rated game so far this year in Child of Light. Just adds to the impression if people being fanboys and changing their tune depending wether or not a company supports Nintendo.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I wonder what they'll show. I can't imagine anything else besides what they've already announced and other IPs they usually do. It's pretty hard to think that Ubisoft just won't release anything, anymore. I personally don't care about AC, Just Dance, etc, so I'm pretty indifferent.
I would love to see either ZombiU2 or a spiritual successor to Child of Light. I consider Aurora's tale to be complete, so I wouldn't want to see a direct sequel. Perhaps a new tale centered around some of the secondary cast, like Robert, Finn, or Gen (wonderful, completely overpowered Gen ).

Or maybe another fairy tale given similar treatment? Loosely taking Sleeping Beauty and making a story staring Aurora in a dream land was brilliant. It seems like a structure that would be easy enough to apply to another fairy tale.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Clover Studios left to become Platnuim
Shinji Mikami left as well
Inafune went to form comcept
All they really have left is Ono and the guy behind devil may cry.
To your second point its not like they have to reinvent the real. Resident Evil 6 precisely for the point that each story had a different mechanic and is a good way to say there were too many cooks in the kitchen. The 8th gen isn't that much different from the 7th gen so its not like they had to reinvent the wheel.Vita mostly mass imcomptence on Capcoms part when we live in a world where
Sonic and Mario and million sellers in both the 2D and 2D platformer. Yet we haven't seen a Mega man 2D since MM9 and the last 3D mega man game was canceled.
Western Style RPGs are the big growing market sector below FPSs. Dragons Dogma is a really good game and sold well but instead of capitalizing and getting a sequel in the works that would have been out this month they instead poured a ton of resources to make a very pretty looking free to play game. Yet DS2 came out sold a ton and even a B their game like bound by flame has taken advantage of the next generation hype.
WAT!

Pretty much this..... Personally, I don't care so much b/c I have a ton of games that I need to play and then Mario Kart will take up most of my gaming this summer. Rayman has a ton of content- I'll be fine there for a while. But Ubisoft really supported the Wii U at least in relative terms compared to other developers. Nintendo needs to make some moves- do something to get some third party titles or make some sort of acquisition to expand its game line.
From Nintendo's perspective this is disappointing. From my personal perspective... meh. I'm more than happy with 6-10 Nintendo/Japanese Nintendoesque style games for the system for the next 2-3 years of it's life.
I ask though if Nintendo copied Sony and Microsoft and threw all in to enticing 3rd party for its next super duper machine, would fans of the big 3rd party games buy a Nintendo instead of one of the other 2? I doubt it.
I personally think Nintendo's future now lies in unifying the console and handheld market For the next gen so they can make more games that can be played on both systems, which will save money for the company, and have a larger customer base which would hopefully entice 3rd party support to make unique games.
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
Microsoft just trade marked Phantom Dust a game for the original Xbox by the Panzeer dragoon guys. Don't be surprised if a some what free to play version shows up at E3. (Or at least pay to win)
Sony showed off Driveclub these past two weeks and will be showing the order off today. People are saying its too make room for the E3 conference.

Exactly. People praise Ubisoft and their games (they were in love with Child of Light mere weeks ago) but the moment word gets out that they may no longer support Nintendo, they say "who cares, their games suck anyways." Fanboy mentality is illogical.
Or maybe your illogically lumping every Nintendo fan into one "Fanboy" category? There can't be some Nintendo fans who actually like Ubisoft (plenty around here) and some who couldn't give a rip to play their glitchy, annual, often delayed, marked down $20.00 - $30.00 in 3 month games like me, right?
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
Are there games really glitchy. Never played a ubiaoft game with any major glitches. Than again I'm not on nintendo systems. Also who cares if a series is annual if the game is good and fun.
As too delays how about DAT Wii U first party launch window.

I'm only interested in E3 because of what Nintendo will be saying and showing. I'm not interested in a company that has developed 2 good games in 5 years time.
You may not be interested, but that doesn't change the fact that this is horrible for Nintendo.

Yeah, I think you are on to something. Hope their next system is something really, really cool- not that I don't love my Wii U and 3ds. Just that it should be really bad A with the technology available in 2-3 years.

Where did this comparison come from? Its 2 completely different situations.
I understood it just fine.
Its still a weird comparison and not realy justified in the context of this conversation.
Unlike Capcom, Ubi has continued to post profits and has seen major success recently
Ubi isnt pissing off consumers that like their software
Ubi hasnt shifted a lot of resources onto mobile while and sent many of tehir major franchises into the graveyard either
So what is it that you understood? It seems like he just threw a name out there for the hell of it and hoped the comparison stuck.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.
