No. Not in the current state at least. The series suffers tremendously from its application of turn based battles. It has the same problem many traditional turn based combat JRPGs have. Fighting enemies is a slooooow chore unless it's a boss or human player.
That's an interesting counter-opinion. The revamp of turn-based battles in BD was one of the most heavily-praised features. Guess it's not for everyone, but really, a lot of the game's popularity owes to this thing you don't like.
Don't worry, iKhan hasn't actually played the game, so it's okay to say he's blatantly wrong.

But, but... you could speed up the battles (twice or even four times as fast) and even put them on auto... or just change the encounter rate. Seriously, the amount of customisation in this game is ridiculous (and awesome).

Setting encounter rate to +100%, speeding up battles 4x, and getting Obliterate makes you go from Lv70 to Lv99 in like an hour. Grinding is ridiculously streamlined. Slow chore indeed!
Just listened to the battle theme. It's... OK. Guitar track is a little out of place and the composition isn't anything out of this world, but it's OK.

Really? Okay, I was just drawing conclusions from the demo. Maybe I'll give it a shot, I haven't really played to whole thing in part because of boredom in the demo and in part because the art style makes me want to puke (I really hate it that much)
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
I'm not going to say it has the most amazing art style (among existing games, that'd be Ni No Kuni), but the "action figurey" look of the game definitely bore a lot of charm.
Bravely Default's style looks like claymation figures if someone left them out in the rain.
I will say though I probably shouldn't have judged the game from my short playtime of the demo.
"Action Figurey"? It's Chibi, just like Bravely Default.
Hell, I actually think Symphonia looks weirder, because they don't look the same as their portraits and animation art, and the proprtions are off in such a way that it winds up being uncanny valley to me. At least the BD characters are proportioned to look like children, which is recognizable.
Only if they get better writers. The current level of storytelling in Bravely Default is amateurish, to puy it mildly.
Also, let's not forget that we're talking about a Squenix brand here - expect them to ruin it with complete disregard for what people actually like about Bravely Default.

BD's style also adds this "doll-like" (clay was the wrong way to describe it) style on the characters in terms of shading and coloring. Something about it just doesn't sit right with me at all.

It's supposed to look child-like, like a cherub. As for the colors, I don't see what the problem is there, at least it fits the themes and backrounds. But YMMV, I guess...

That's what I fear. Sure, Squenix can be awesome when they want, but god do they love making stupid decisions more often than not. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
@iKhan The art style is not everyone's cup of tea, nothing you can do about it. But I'd encourage you to give the demo another chance, if you're still interested. They really don't explain any of the features there, so you kind of have to figure it out yourself or play the actual game where they explain everything. Hit right on the D-Pad one or two times for speeding up during battles, put in commands for every character and you can then press Y to turn Auto on/off, so they repeat said actions ad nauseum (doesn't work, of course, when you, say, cast magic without MP, they'll just attack normally). Change the encounter rate in the menu under Tactics-> Config.-> Difficulty (-100% meaning no encounter all the way up to +100% meaning twice as many, 0% is the default setting).
These features make fighting really enjoyable, imo. Besides, playing around with jobs and their abilities is so much fun, which is why I love this game.

Weird "stoned" looking faces aside, I really like Yoshida's designs in BD. The costumes are all pretty great. His work is usually pretty great. I'll even defend Vaan, if I have to.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
