I played a little last night and was definitely impressed with the rate of fire and the explosions. So many onscreen at one time, reminiscent of Bangai-O (N64). Game had a nice swift pace too.
I have a question about "hacking" though. You push X to identify objects that can be hacked, but what button do you use to actually hack the object? I was mashing them all to no avail which did not allow me to progress very far . . . .
I haven't played that much, but I beat the preview version a couple of times.
The only disruption is a very brief framerate drop when reaching a checkpoint.
Apart from that minor peculiarity there were no issues at all.
The hacking goes hand in hand with the action.
You switch between action mode and hack mode by the press of a button and without delay.
Once you get the hang of it, it starts to feel very natural.
A little bit of practice is required though, as it's the first game that doesn't separate the action part from the hacking part.
In fact, hacking adds a strategical element to the action.
Really liked this one! Intense, varied and fun at all times. I have wished for an arcade shooter like this for a long while actually, and this was excellent. This is one 15% off I will use.
I just beat the demo, and it is AWESOME. But: they need to fix the mini freeze at checkpoints (?) and the game makes no use of the gamepad whatsoever, at least in the demo. But overall, you can tell this has some of the same cleverness of Toki Tori... with GUNS! Very impressed.

I think they should add an optional function where you can tilt the GamePad left or right to move that direction, that could add to the craziness. Trying to dodge an attack, so you turn the controller to move, I like the idea lol
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I am very excited about getting the full version of RIVE. Probably the game I'm most looking forward to. Seen a few people compare it to R-Type. Maybe I should go play some of that just now? That half second freeze is the only downside but I'm sure they said they were working to fix it. Was hoping this was out soon but the Nintendo site say November Still a while to wait.
