Has anyone had this issue and/or have any clue how to resolve it?
Basically, I loaded up my game of Super Mario 64, and was greeted to a suspension point in which I had 62 stars. I reset the game using the "Reset" button on the Virtual Console menu, and again found myself to have 62 stars on the save select screen, and so I loaded up the file.
At some point I then decided to load up a previous restore point, only to find I had only 43 stars (it was an old restore point). To get back to my previous file (the one with 62 stars), I hit "Reset" again...only to find that when I loaded up the game, my save file now had 43 stars.
Now whenever I load up the game, I only have this save file with 43 stars.
I did not save at all while in the 43 star save state (in fact, I had only opened it for a few seconds) so it seems very strange to me that the restore point seems to have lost me my save game. I'm not very hopeful that I can get my old file back to be honest...
Morale of the story? Save restore points frequently or don't use them all.
I think that's what I'll do from now on to be honest...to be honest, I usually stick with regular saves and only use restore points for particularly difficult points with unforgiving checkpoints.
