My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."
No one should be angered or worried. They even said, themselves, that Wii U takes more time/is more complicated to code for. I'm telling you guys, x86 is easier to develop for, because PC is always getting new hardware that people have to keep up with. The last PowerPC consoles were Xbox 360, PS3, Mac(2005), and Wii. If this is really going to be an 8th gen game on Wii U, like they say it will be, then it doesn't surprise me that they need more time to develop the Wii U version. It will just be easier and faster for them to make money, then they can continue working on the Wii U build.
Just remember that delay means delay; not f***ing cancel
Yes, x86 is easier to develop for, but from where I stand, when a version of a game begins long before other versions, I don't expect it to take so long that it would drop it to a later release than those that began development later. Plenty of developers have shown that they don't focus on Wii U all that much, and that tends to put a damper on the progress on them, taking longer than other versions. The Wii U versions of games are also the most likely to be outsourced to other companies. Basically, kicked to the side.
As much as x86 is easier to develop on than PPC, last gen was all about PPC, because that is what the architecture was for all 3 consoles, so I would at least think that they've got some expertise on the architecture. In fact, I find it hard to believe that any company working on Wii U versions that has also worked on not just the Wii but also the GC would have trouble at this time with the architecture, as each version of the CPU is basically an improvement over the previous.

That's why they aren't focusing on it, though. They aren't kicking it to the side, just because. PowerPC isn't nearly as utilized as x86, so it falls behind from a developmental stance. It's just as capable, but everything is already coded for x86, while it isn't on PPC.
They started development on BOTH architectures simulataneously, not just Wii U. All these other platforms are just benefitting from the decision to go x86, because then they can port from PC pretty quickly.
Last gen being all about PowerPC, doesn't automatically mean that this gen is current with PowerPC. That's why they are porting 7th gen games to Wii U, because that's as far as they have gotten with the architecture, and as far as they have had to have gotten. Once Xbox One and PS4 came out, they basically just jumped to where PC currently was, because PC is advancing all the time.
It's a bummer, and I'm disappointed, but it's true what one of the Dev's said; if people really want the best simulating driving game on Wii U, (though frankly, it's more like on any Nintendo system in history) then the delay won't necessarily matter.
Inevitably you will lose out some with those who are multi-plat gamers, but you have just as much chance of succeeding then as of now i.e Will people be bored of Mario Kart and want something else? Or are Nintendo users really only interested in racing around with Lakitu.
How pathetic... They deleted my comment on the poll section of their official site. Well, I guess if you can't please the fans, you'd better just silence them, right?

What was your comment? Just curious.

All I said was that it was sad to see another third party game getting delayed, despite the fact that the Wii U version was the most anticipated, according to their poll. I was polite, didn't use any bad language at all, so that couldn't have been the reason. But I see that a lot of other comments have been deleted. I guess it's their way of doing business.
First of all why do we have another topic for this? This should've been closed and redirected as now I feel like I've missed out on some of the discussion.
Anyways to say I'm disappointed is an understatement! This was and still is my most anticipated U game. I don't have an option for Gran Turismo any more nor do I want another system to support now and the foreseeable future.
I also can't believe the dev didn't think this was going to happen. I mean really?? You sign with a big company for distribution then days later delay the game for the system that most Wanted your game doesn't make sense. I've read enough on their forums to actually make me more mad then I need to be. Getting shafted will be the theme for U owners 10 years from now.
@SCAR392 I see where you're coming from but you sound more like a pr person trying to spin it in your favor. If this had been one isolated incident then ok but this has happened far too many times for your statement to even matter. I'm not attacking you but defending them or UBISoft's practices will not fly here or anywhere else.
Good business or not getting shafted is the common theme here.

I'm not understanding why they deleted it since most of the comments about the U are 10x worse. There must be another reason. You must of been too nice!

What are you talking about? Alot of people have automatically jumped to conclusions that Wii U is just being ignored. This explantion is aimed towards those people. The fact is that they are having a harder time developing the game for Wii U, then they are for Xbox One and PS4. They said that themselves. Technically it is PR that they had to explain why it is being delayed, but it's a legitimate reason. This was merely reiterating that reason.
Ya, it sucks that Wii U is getting the game late. I'm dissapointed, too, but we can't really hold it against them that they need more time for the game like Ubisoft did for Watch Dogs. Ubisoft's explanation of why they delayed the game is perfectly fine, but that doesn't change that it sucks any less for Wii U owners.
Just wait and see how the game turns out, because if the extra development time has benefitted the Wii U version, it will be hard to say that Ubisoft or SMS didn't have a clue what they were doing when they made these decisions. We have to see how it plays out, before drawing a conclusion.
@SCAR392 You still sound like a representative for either company. It's all pr spin plain and simple. What else are they suppose to say. Why not delay the other versions and bring out the one that seems to be the most popular? No instead we get we are delaying the game to give us more time to get it right. It's been in development long enough and longer then both the other 2 console versions. This is pr spin at it's finest and you bought it hook line and sinker.

They favored the x86 build, because it included every other platform, besides Wii U. Just because their announcement was PR, doesn't mean it was BS. Go ahead and b**** about it all you want, but that isn't going to change why they delayed the game, and that you're going to have to deal with it.
They could have totally picked the Wii U version over x86, but there are 4 x86 consoles, and 1 PowerPC, so which version do you think they are going to make sure they have done by holiday? They already answered that question for you.
@Kodeen
I know they don't have enough people on their team. If they did, we probably would have seen this game completed when they said it would be, on all platforms. Since they planned on having both versions done by holiday, anytime they spend on Wii U is extra. Depending on how you look at it, the Wii U version absolutely isn't expendable, because it will be the only platform that supports PowerPC. If developers don't support Wii U, PowerPC will basically cease to exist, and that isn't good. So on one hand, they want to support the majority of platforms, but one platform(Wii U) has given new tech to work with that technically has no other comparison on the market.

Why would developers even begin to approach caring about this?
Also, PPC is huge in embedded systems (car systems in particular), it isn't going anywhere.
PowerPC is still a relevant architecture. That's why, and if they don't learn how to understand that now, PowerPC will basically be gone from the video gaming market until more poeple put more effort into it, which wouldn't be easy or likely.
Car companies can use PowerPC all they want, but those people aren't developing video games, so that kind of misses the point.
The moment a major publisher picked up this game, the Wii U version was in jeopardy. They're willing the Wii U to fail so we should will them to fail by not buying any of their products. Death to EA, Namco, Ubisoft, Square, Activision etc.
