OK I Have no basis for these statments, but nevertheless seem like viable suggestions and improvement for the console.

1. A major Wii U update.
including large update to the online experience. and a fully fledged account system. They brought miiverse to 3ds eventually, so think it's a step in that direction. and have accounts, friendslist, miiverse and eshop more closely linked. I am aware that something that huge takes time to be truly functional.

2. Nintendo will add huge selection of VC games and new ideas to eShop
Pretty straight forward...inclusive of Gamecube games. But with more things like the nes remix, where people can interact with others and be part of something. Also will have huge sales...a subscription service is something people throw around alot, but don't think it can happen at this time. The suggestion here is something that doesn't require alot of effort. Although with pokémon bank, subscription based services are not far off.

3. large remarketing campaign.
not excactly an announcement but will come after E3, particularly aimed towards western audiences. And will showcase...number 4:

4. New games!
I think it's safe to say that if the Wii U was released with 2014s line up in addition, it would be more appealing.
Thats just the games we know of. There will be new announcements soon, Hyrule Warriors came out of nowhere, expect similar suprises. Also expect more 3rd party exclusives via the funding of new games by nintendo. Platinum games and Sega being prime examples...Also hurry up nintendo and fund Shadow of the Eternals

These are mainly suggestions that can be played out from behing the office walls without changing anything drastically and will improve the system and experience on the console. straight forward easy improvements.

ND January 2014 - Heavy focus on Spring 3DS titles, DKCTF, and some info about Mario Kart's new mechanics. Brief Year of Luigi nod with another Luigi mod of a WiiWare title. None of the videos from January 2013 will reappear, and Palutena will be announced officially for Smash 4.

ND February 2014 - Goodbye "Ear ob Ruigi!" This will be on the 14th and will be used to talk about the previous year, an update to Bravely Default, and one more hype trailer for DKCTF before... "We are very proud of hour success... with de Ear ob Ruigi... We hope, that you will be excited, for hour next event with... de Ear, ob, Yoshi." And then Yarn Yoshi footage, yaaaaaaaaay, and then Yoshi's New Island hype. HYYYYPE.

ND March 2014 - mini-direct. Maybe hype trailer for MK8. Maybe Smash veteran reveal. Maybe new feature on the 3DS. Maybe more Mario DLC. Dunno.

ND April 2014 - Depending on whether or not MK8 is out, yet, this will possibly be a big Mario Direct. We'll see something new from SEGA (probably Zelda DLC), and will almost certainly get a newcomer for Smash 4. There will be some mentions of SMTxFE and X and Bayo 2, as well as a tease about Zelda U, but they'll tell us to stay tuned for closer looks.

I won't go further, because by this point, it may hinge on stuff we haven't seen yet. Besides, by May, they'll be telling us to wait for E3 for any big info.

E3 2014 - METROID! X! SMTxFE! ZELDA U! SMASH 4 COMING IN A MONTH! DEMOS DEMOS DEMOS! NO PRESS CONFERENCE! 2-HOUR DIRECT! BEST BUY PARTNERSHIP, AGAIN WITH JUST AS MANY SETUPS AS BEFORE BECAUSE NINTENDO HASN'T HIRED MANY REPS SINCE LAST YEAR! LET THE GAAAAAMES BEGIIIIIIN!

A nifty calendar (Updated 9/13/15)

^I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I'm pretty confident they'll have a conference at E3 this year. It'd be the best way to announce a Zelda game as well as any other big Nintendo franchise. They're also sponsoring a gaming convention in Japan during April, so we might get an announcement there, too.

They need to rehype the console, so i think that adding things to the core experience and then showing off points to new features displayed at an E3.

The reason I look forward to e3 is because changes take time. The nintendo directs will largely give info we already know.

I say January's Direct will give us a Monster Hunter 4U trailer. (and give us a release date on Smash already, lol)

Nintendo isn't in the right place to not have a conference at E3. The struggle they are having now and the president of Nintendo stating that they are looking at a new business outlook pretty much guarantees a conference. Nintendo needs to shift the light their way and E3 is their best moment to shine. I expect them to capitalize on that moment. If Nintendo fails to announce anything big, I'm afraid they might lose 2014. So if I'm predicting it right, E3 will be huge for Nintendo because it needs to be.

I feel like people put too much stock into the E3 Press Conferences. The only thing they have over the E3 Direct and Best Buy deal is generating hype. The E3 Direct is cheaper than the press conference, more efficient at getting out information, can be done whenever Nintendo wants to do it, rather than whenever random company that may or may not have reason to put Nintendo in a bad position wants them to do it, and did I mention that it gives us more info in a shorter period of time? Besides, the Best Buy deal was amazing. I got to play 4 games long before they came out, and I honestly doubt I'll ever get into an actual E3 showing. I can watch the events online, but I'll never actually be there. Nintendo's plans, this Direct, were much better for the people that can't be at E3. The Direct was as fun as their Press Conference could have been, showed me some stuff I really wanted to see, and I got to play DKCTF and Mario Kart 8, too!

Doesn't the Nintendo direct only play to those whom already gave a Nintendo device able to play the direct? Don't get me wrong but wouldn't it be better at reaching a wider crown to broadcast a conference at E3 where there is more then just Nintendo fans?

I think Nintendo is going to stop making the gamepad mandatory for a lot of games. It just doesn't justify itself in the eyes of consumers. That said they probably have a lot of Gamepads already manufactured.. It does have a few strengths, as a streaming device. Except the whole 25 ft thing. Honestly the real question is this

How many people want to play Nintendo in HD!! For the first time? (Though the Wii was technically ED, halfway there). Let me put it this way - People should be used to the Wii remote+Nunchuk now, it's the best controller I've ever used. I've never used the gamepad, but I have used an NES, gamecube and 64, as well as original playstation controllers (before the analog sticks)

But I do predict Nintendo is going to increase the range of the Gamepad.

Nintendo Directs stream to anyone with an internet connection on any device

I predict that sometime between now and E3, they probably will start a new marketing campaign. There's not much else they can do to improve the Wii U, most of the problems are in the hardware, and they can't do anything about that until a new console comes out. At best, they might improve their online services.

As for games, I'm thinking:

-Mario Kart 8: Will be covered in several Directs before launching in April
-Yoshi's New Island: Probably once or twice before it's released
-Zelda U: Not expecting any reveal until E3
-Yarn Yoshi: This game still exists? Eh, will probably see more at E3.
-SMTxFE: At E3 I'm guessing.
-Hyrule Warriors: Probably a few more details over the coming months, and then something at E3 (we'll probably have the release date by then).
-Bayonetta 2: IDK what to expect for this game, it'll definitely be at E3, but IDK if we'll see it before then.
-X: Probably nothing until E3
-Smash Bros: Will probably see continuing trickles of info over the next month, and something more concrete at E3
-New announcements: Metroid U will probably be announced at E3, the third SEGA game will probably be announced by then, Miyamoto's IP will also be revealed, and probably a few surprises (F-Zero or Star Fox, maybe?).

The Gamepad isn't used in many games in the first place, except for Off-TV play. I say the opposite should happen, they need more games that use the Gamepad and show its advantages. There's not much reason to buy the console if the main attraction fails to prove its usefulness.

Yeah, actually I'm doing a lot of 180s in the last week about the gamepad. One day I see potential, the other I see a train wreck. I think I've decided though

MARIO KART 8 is going to be a last hurrah for the Gamepad in the eyes of a lot of consumers. If it succeeds, Gamepad justified for the next console generation. This is the challenge. Zelda isn't that important overall - even a pessimist expects Mario Kart 8 to sell ~10 million.

Well last year's E3 was all things considered pretty packed. With that said all that was "new" was:

  • First footage of Smash Bros
  • First footage of Mario Kart
  • First footage of 3D World
  • Announcement for Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze

Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

Honestly, the only games I thought I really enjoyed the controller with was Wind Waker HD, Wonderful 101, and ZombiU. I really loved the gamepad at first, but if they don't do anything besides menu and off-tv play I hope they patch the system so it's no longer required, package the Wii U with a pro controller, and lower the price.

Yeah, but that's runs the.. Not risk, but given, of being the (inferior) Nintendo box, and nothing else. Nintendo has expanded a bit for the HD gen, so maybe we will se awesome games, once they can deal with their growing pains, they will develop their titles full stop or whatever that is called.

Problem with Gamepad is I read the Wii U does not function without it, and replacing them is a chore. The whole system might as well have broken on you which seems like a crime when so many games don't actually NEED it.
After careful consideration, I've concluded Nintendo will stick with the Gamepad, since they don't exactly have their poopoodoodoocacapoopledoople together in other areas. The question is will consumers?

Hey maybe we'll look back in three years and be like - Wii U not fail!
Please watch the profanity — TBD
