It feels like really like a day for me, since i plan on downloading this at midnight on the eShop after i get home from work, i either get out just after 10 or just after 11.

Does anyone know how long a <5 GB download would take with a good/decent connection? I'm thinking of making my purchase and then putting the system into standby mode until i wake up. I'm not planning on sleeping a full night's rest in one go.

Really depends how fast your connection is and the demand on Nintendo's servers at the time.

I just watched the Mario Kart 8 channel at Miiverse. It has already exploded with large number of posts every minute. Can't even imagine how it will be on release day.

Nintendo's servers tend to cap at 2-3 MB/s so in perfect conditions the whole process should take about 45 minutes.

At the time I posted this:
1 day, 7 hours, 14 minutes, 34 seconds

So probably an hour and a half, well good that I already have my copy and had no plans to dl it.
