Actually this thread might die for a while after the game comes out. That's what happened to PK X/Y.

There goes any hope for Rainbow Road growing on me if everyone shortcuts on it.

To that Rainbow Road shortcut.. It's pretty obvious that this was implemented on purpose.
So it's not an exploit or overpowered. And if you don't do it right, it actually will slow you down, as any other shortcut does.
