I'm really disappointed about how it's advertised in Slovenia. I haven't seen one commercial or any other advertisement at all. You can' t preorder it in Slovenia's largest tech reatailer "Big Bang", neither in largest online retailer "Mimovrste". I've only seen it in online stores specified for gaming.

Of course there's DLC for this game... If Nintendo is smart... they will make the first batch of DLC FREE.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Or they might charge for it... I wonder how DLC courses will work online. If not everyone has DLC will you not be able to select the level? If DLC courses can be selected what will happen to people without it? Personally I think people who have not purchased DLC should be force to spectate, it would be like advertising the DLC while not completely removing players from groups. It would mean each all DLC would have to be patched into the game for everyone and then you just purchase "Keys" to unlock it

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Ugh..does this game really have to be released on a Friday? :/

Oh well, at least it's after my important test, but before my exams. I can kinda get it in time. I hopefully won't go through the horror fest like I did with Topical Freeze...

The only reason the game releases on a Friday is because it's Nintendo. Sometimes Nintendo games releases on a birthday, like my birthday!

That'd be horrible, it'd pretty much completely ruin the online experience for anyone who chooses not to purchase the DLC.

I agree with that! Many times previously during races I'd internally scream "That's not how you're supposed to race on this track!!"

I'm not too worried about it, considering it didn't really take Nintendo too long to deal with the issue in Mario Kart 7.
It was a bigger issue back in Mario Kart Wii where there was no way for them to fix it, making Grumble Volcano a broken track online... gonna be nice being able to race on a non-broken version of it this time around.

It already has been confirmed for Mario Kart 8 as a retro course, so that couldn't be a problem.

That's what I mean, it's in the game and shouldn't be broken this time, so it's going to be nice to actually be able to have proper races on Grumble Volcano.

I don't care much for the characters but Arenas as DLC would be nice!

If there's one thing I don't want to see for a game like Mario Kart, it's DLC. I can see it now.

"Now for only $4.99, own the Super Star Pack!

  • 4 new courses!
  • 2 new playable characters!
  • 2 new vehicles!"

No thanks. When I buy a game, I prefer it to be complete. I shouldn't have to fork out extra just so I can unlock everything.

Lol, the game is complete! The whole point of dlc is to give the game longevity. Well at least with most Nintendo games. I for one wouldn't mind a little dlc a month or 2 from now to keep the game fresh. If they wanted to put all the dlc in the game then we would have to wait Another 6 months to a year for it to release. Ignore it if you like but there is a good reason for it to be there.

The game is complete though. It has the same amount of tracks (and even more content/options) than every other modern MK title. If that's enough for you, good. If not, for the price of a cheeseburger you could possibly buy more tracks and characters. It's nice to have that option.

So you don't want additional content for a game to extend its life?

I've never bought DLC for any game except GOTY editions of games and a few songs on Guitar Hero but I don't think there is a single Mario Kart that I wouldn't have wanted the option to buy more tracks for. It will be approximately 6 years before I buy another Mario Kart. I want the option to play every retro track with the current game mechanics because the next MK will be slightly different again. For all we know, the DLC for MK8 might be free like it was with MKW.

I've always felt that 32 tracks is plenty in Mario Kart.
It always seems to keep me going till the next Mario Kart game comes out.

I wouldn't object to having more tracks, but if I have to pay extra to get them, I'd personally rather them not exist.
Buying all the games I want is too expensive as it is, so I don't want to spend even more on games I've already paid for, and just not buying it isn't an option (unless it's just characters) because it'll feel like I'm missing out on the full experience which will bug me constantly.
In short, Free DLC > No DLC > Paid DLC.

So if 5 months after MK8 comes out, a DLC pack that costs $5 is released that has 4 new tracks, you refuse to buy it because its 'too expensive'? Do you have a problem with spending $10 on a pizza that is gone forever in 30 minutes or a $5 hamburger that disappears in 3 minutes?

Why not skip Burger King one day (have a sandwich at home instead) and then put that $5 towards something that will provide dozens of hours of entertainment rather than something quick and greasy to eat? Think of all the frivolous junk we spend $4-8 bucks on daily that we don't give a second thought to, yet you take offence to spending $5 on something that could literally bring you enjoyment for years? Really?

The only thing that puts me off Mario Kart DLC is that it means EAD2 are probably not making anything new with their time. I find it much more worthwhile than the Pikmin DLC.
