Topic: Is the Virtual console Dead ?

i was wondering if a company releases a virtual console game will it be on the wiis VC or will Nintendo make a wii U Vc soon ?

I think there just waiting to put them on WiiU eShop, but it makes you wonder why the 3DS didn't have a "DS mode" not that it would be good I mean how can that work and not on the WiiU?

I doubt it's dead, the 3DS one is getting new games all the time. I suspect Nintendo are just waiting a bit before setting up the Wii U one with all the Gamecube games and stuff.

The Wii mode needs to be like the DS is on the 3DS= present all the time with all unified, the store, the channels in the menu, not a separate channel.

No official word has been given by Nintendo. So nobody can answer your question.

I think that's correct for the Wii/Wii U. After 6 years, I suspect they've released just about every title they can (except the N64, but the VC emulator is a bit rubbish), so it needs more platforms. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the likes of the Saturn, Dreamcast and GameCube, for example.

As for the 3DS, I haven't checked recently, but I think they're trying to spread the big names out, a challenge considering there are only three systems (and does anyone really remember anything other than Tetris or Pokemon from those days?)

I personally believe that If I buy a NES game on my Wii I should be able to download it and play it for free also on my 3DS and on my WiiU. Instead, some time ago I purchased "Legend Of Zelda" on the Wii VC and now Nintendo is asking me to spend another 5 bucks to obtain the rights to download it on my 3DS console.
If I buy a PS1 game on the Playstation network I can use it freely on my PS3 home console and on my PSP, so I can't see why I couldn't get the same treatment from Nintendo.

I think Nintendo might do that with the Wii U / 3DS virtual consoles. I just hope that we can transfer games from the Wii VC to the Wii U VC, and then share it with the 3DS.

We've gotten 24 Virtual Console games just this year. I wouldn't knock it as dead just yet.

Other than SNK releases I don't think I could name any other releases over the past few months from the top of my head, wouldn't be too surprised if there wheren't any others.

...Anyways, I'm holding out for GCN Virtual Console so I can play Sonic Adventure 1 / 2 on that GamePad. That is an awesome thing to think of.

Then there's Melee, Metroid Prime 1 / 2, Super Mario Sunshine, The Wind Waker, Pokemon Colosseum / XD, Beyond Good & Evil, Luigi's Mansion... you have a freaking huge diamond mine here, Nintendo!

Hardly anything good though.

We got Both Last Blades in one year. That already makes it better than any other year in Virtual Console's history.
