Topic: Is my Wii U partially bricked?!

Okay since the last update my Wii U has been freezing alot when changing apps and returning to the home menu, however as long as I stay within a given app or game my Wii U works properly...is this a sign that my OS is partially bricked? I've never used third party software such as homebrew so it isn't like I did anything stupid that put myself at risk, but yet here I am with a wonky Wii U OS.

Have you contacted Nintendo Support yet?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I tried three times this morning, but their lines are busy so I was hoping to get an answer here while I wait for their lines to free up.

Edit: It's been doing this since the last Wii U update, but it's definitely getting worse as time goes on.

Well there is no such thing as partially bricked. Either your system is bricked and can no longer be used or it freezes occasionally (which sounds like what is happening on your system). Customer Support should be able to help you with the problem. I would recommend going into system settings and making sure your Wii U is as up to date as possible.

Thanks @DefHalan it sounds like it might not be as bad as I feared! I'll keep calling them until my call goes through. You were very helpful so thank you for the advice and info!

Sorry I couldn't be more help, I have never had this issue.

I would recommend checking to make sure the system's two ventilation points are free from dust and debris. Periodically, mine will get dust built up there and will start to periodically lock up and freeze. Usually, cleaning out the vents seems to relieve the freezing as it allows the console to get proper cooling. If the issue persists, I would definitely get in contact with Nintendo.
