Topic: If your Wii U is modded but only on the Virtual Wii side is it safe to update?

I have a modded Wii U but no modifications were made to the main Wii U portion of the system. I recently got notified that there's a new firmware update. Should i just leave it alone or update?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but i thought maybe it would be okay as long as the Wii U menu had no tinkering done with it. can anyone confirm?

@Zeldafan79 it’s all good

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Okay i just wanted to make sure. The last thing i want is a bricked Wii U. Those things are damn expensive these days! I figured the Firmware update should only alter the Wii U's main OS.

@Zeldafan79 all is safe, I highly recommend modding your Wii U main side also - opens up the Wii U to a whole host of awesome modifications from copying and installing your Wii U disc collection to homebrew - some of my games were developing scratches and I bought Mario Kart, Mass Effect and a few others twice.

If Cold Boot Haxchi puts you off (you would need to be dyslexic not to be able to follow the instructions) a normal Haxchi will work fine.

Thanks i may do that eventually! I was a little nervous about it because it sounds alot more involved than modding a regular Wii but as long as i read the guides carefully i shouldn't have a problem. One thing i wasn't crazy about is how one method required you to buy a DS game from the eshop. I think it's that Cold boot Haxchi thing. Anyhoo yeah I've been thinking about it for a while.
