If it's anything like Link's special you have to meet certain conditions. If you check the swords stats it will give you a round about of what to do.

@Sanya since that is referring to the master sword have you unlocked the master sword's requirement? Master Sword is the Blade of Evil's Bane.

Collect all the weapons from the 1st adventure mode map to start working on unlocking the Master Sword's skill and after you unlock it you can start working on 25,000 KO skills on other weapons.
...Thought I had the Master Sword already from the Story...ugh. xD
you receive the sword from legend mode but you have to beat legend mode to work on the unlock. Somebody correct me if I'm mistaken as I tend to rock the spinner when I play as Link (usually a Sheikah player).

From what I've read you have to collect every weapon in Legend mode and the first map on Adventure mode. Haven't managed to collect all of them yet so I can't say for sure.

That is the requirement for the blue seal to become red and then you have to kill 30,000 (?) enemies for the true power of the master sword.
I need Ganondorf and Ganon's silver material drops to complete Link's skill tree so I used the material master potion to get them but it gave me their gold materials.Do I keep trying to use the potion until it gives me the silver drops or it will always give me the gold ones?

You can get silver materials from them using the potion but you're better off using nothing and hoping you don't get a weapon.

I just ordered HW. Now the question: should I get all the DLC right from the start? Will I be able to use Epona and new weapons directly in story mode?

When you complete a level in story mode(called Legend mode in this case) you can replay that level in free mode with all the characters and weapons you have unlocked.Epona doesn't have to be unlocked.

If I was you I would wait, all the DLC maps require a lot of levelling up before you should attempt them.
