Topic: Future Nx games release on Wii U?

Could NX be announced as a third pillar since it has been hinted at it not being a successor for Wii U or 3DS and it being rumoured to basically be a hybrid attempt to replace them both....perhaps they hedge their bets.

If NX can play Breath of the Wild I am sure there will be plenty of NX games that Wii U is very capable of playing and running. PS3 is still supported as is the Xbox 360. Dropping support to try to force an upgrade in hardware can be considered controversial and anti-consumer.

If Mario Galaxy 3 comes out in 6 months and it's not doing anything that the Wii U couldn't do I might feel a little burned. Would it make sense to release a version for Wii U as well?

@blaisedinsd Seeing how little effort they are putting into the Wii U now, I don't see why they would put more effort in after the NX releases.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

"Third pillar" is just a euphemism for the two halves of the Titanic.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Third pillar is never going to happen. The Wii U is pretty much done after Zelda.

Would be cool but I doubt it especially as I also think NX will be poorly supported when it launches.

Do you remember when the ds was a third pillar and wasn't going to replace the Gba?

@Grumblevolcano actually I think it will be supported quite well. That's part of the reason they delayed the launch till march and why the combined the portable and home console teams. I doubt they would do all that work for nothing.

I suspect they'll keep the Wii U about the same amount that the New 3DS offered a variety of exclusive games. Namely, they'll hint at it and then do nothing.

Nintendo has the skills for doublespeak that Sean Murray wishes he had.

@faint Just because something is planned doesn't mean it works out. We could infact be seeing something like the merge allowing them to create more mobile games rather than more NX games for example.

@Grumblevolcano they have a separate mobile team not that it matters. Mobile games tend to require smaller teams and faster turnover.

Let's be honest, true first-party support for the U ended a long time ago. Zelda will be the last game from Nintendo and probably the last for the console.

It's understandable to hold titles up for NX release but especially if NX is not a true home console perhaps we might get some cross platform releases.

If NX launches at $399 like Wii U it is going to be a long while before NX user base exceeds Wii U.

Xbox One and PS4 launched at that or higher and passed the Wii U user base within a year, I think. The NX could be priced at $399 and do better than the Wii U. Just depends on what the product is.

It sure as heck better do better than the Wii U. Even so it would need time to exceed the Wii U install base.

PS4 and XBONE are a different market. They were doing basically a straight power upgrade for consoles that there was penned up demand for more powerful home consoles. Nintendo is a different market and releasing something with less power for just as high a price as the competition is not going to go over well even if it has hybrid portability gimmics which all in all is not really that revolutionary a thing.

After Colour Splash Nintendo is done with the Wii U and I think the only game that'll come to Wii U will be the Lego and Just Dance games.
