Just got a Wii U. The selection of playable demos available for download is mediocre. I don't live in the US so, I can't walk into bestbuy and check the Mario Kart & Super Mario World 3d DEMO, why doesn't Nintendo put these games online, so we could enjoy it in the comfort of our home? It's so ridiculous. Same thing with Pokemon X & Y Thank God I have mine now, but why didn't they put up the playable demo people had before release? To add to that there is this play limit.
I agree about the demos that were on at Best Buy should be on the eShop. However, the sole reason for those demos were to get people interested in the Wii U - they weren't really there for current Wii U owners, merely to create interest to perspective buyers. Releasing them on the eShop would be of little benefit to Nintendo (the majority of WiI U owners at that point would have been Nintendo fans anyway, so would of more than likely bought the games anyway).
I agree that the DEMO section is scarce ... I believe all games should have a demo when they are released ... I believe demos have the power to sell games people are on the fence about. Right now I am on the fence about Sonic Lost World ... only a demo could make me hit the buy button ... if I like it.
I've Been Playin' Video Games Since The Days Of Pong & It Looks Like I'll Be PLayin' 'em 'Till The Day I'm Gone!
I am a big fan of demos, so much so that every club nintendo survey I do I state that I would buy more games wi had a demo to try.
That being said, demos cost money and take time to make. Devs obviously want to show their game at its best to garner interest so it can take away from development to make a demo prior to launch. I think there needs to be more post launch demos or eshop trials. Let me d/l a timed full version with the option to just buy it from the eshop if I like it.
Also need to not that the bandwisdth for demos costs money, and they don't always lead to sales.
