It's the most I've seen the Wii U in the news.
So, with Rayman Legends releasing Sept 3 and W101 Sept 15 will these games get lost while new Wii U buyers wait for the price drop to take effect? (Obviously this wont effect people who already own a Wii U from purchasing them, unless they are still mad about the cut and the Zelda Wii U bundle.)
I'm posing this as a question, not a statement. but after the W101 sales in Japan this can't help their outlook much and I though tit was worth discussing.
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
I don't think either games would sell many systems regardless. I don't see either as franchises that push systems. They seem like great games and I am getting Rayman for sure, but I doubt there are many people wanting to buy a Wii U for it.

I feel it could be the contrary. Many people may take the plunge for the Wii U now, while having interest in these games. You have mentioned how the W101 demo actually influenced you (at least partially) to get the machine, before the price drop.
The price cut is just 5 days after W101 hits the stores, so I can see new Wii owners getting it as it would be hot new stuff. Rayman could be a different story for being multiplat. Still I don't think neither of those games are going to sell big.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
When you buy a system you tend to buy one or two pieces of software with it because that's what you get a system for. When people walk in to get a cut-priced Wii U they'll see the library of Wii U games 'till that point. Rayman Legends, The W101, Wind Waker, New SMB U and Pikmin 3 will all be high on their list of games you get the Wii U for. Games don't disappear after launch week.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Rayman Origins only succeeded because of long term sales and Wonderful 101 (unfortunately) most likely doesn't have a chance to be a profitable title regardless so this changes nothing.
In all honesty as good as Origns was,it wasn't a system seller, heck it wasn't a seller at all.The only reason it did well was because it was always on sale, same will go for Legends as well I'm affraid.

Nope. Rayman was always going to be an Evergreen seller like most platformers. The wonderful 101 was a straight up bomba because platinum. There's a reason why SEGA went hands off on them.
WAT!

I know I was a big fan of Origins, and actually bought that game at full price on the 360. After seeing how quickly that game dropped in price, I know I will be waiting for Legends to drop, before picking it up. Even though, I know Legends is going to be amazing, I think most people will wait, and we won't see an initial sale increase for awhile, it will be more of a long term, slow-burning success. I just hope the series keeps selling so we see more beautifully crafted 2-D platforming.

I don't think they'll get lost, as you say. Heck, it's not like so many games are coming out on a daily basis to bury W101 and Rayman in the bottom of the pile. They'll still be front and center on shelves as "New Arrivals" along with Zelda. Though I can see most new consumers picking up a Mario game before those two.
Good question. Probably not - Rayman will be a steady seller for a long while. Wonderful 101 could go either way. Personally, the price cut has made me commit to buying when when it comes, and Legends and W101 are amongst the first 3 games I intend to buy (alongside Pikmin 3).
Honestly, I would have never considered buying Rayman if they never came out with the challenges app. Now I can't wait until Tuesday!
On the contrary, I WAS going to buy Wonderful 101 until I played the demo, and now I have no intentions of buying it.
So I guess it really depends on the person, but I'm sure both will sell pretty well.
No.. they will still be new here... and as thus front and center.. the only way they could get lost is if everyone decides to go ahead and wait until the Holidays.. (October-Jan) then yeah they may get lost... because there is so many good games coming out then.. but if people buy it as soon as the cut takes place.. then no they will not get lost..
I am a wild and free Ninetails not a trainer.. get over it...
Nope both just aren't appealing to many people and won't sell well. And if they even do plan to get either one, anyone who's smart will wait for the price cut seeing as how they save $50 and its just a few days of waiting
I think they'll do fine. I understand your point, that nobody is going to buy a Wii U from now til September 20th, so first week sales for W101 and Rayman will look bad, but... in the States weekly figures don't really get revealed unless a publisher choses to do so. Instead they'll just com out in the overall September numbers. It doesn't really matter if first week, or first two weeks suck, as long as a good chunk of the new Wii U owners from September 20th to 30th pick them up.
I hope not. Right now 101 is bombing hard. Only 15,000 between Japan and all of Europe for a launch week is awful. I have mine on preorder being in North America. Hopefully next week will be better but I doubt it.
I believe the Wii U will be around a fair few years, in that time it's very likely to sell a lot more yet. Unless your talking about if the games is deemed successful enough for a sequel?
